To kick start your metabolism and get brighter eyes, clearer skin, more lustrous hair, as well as a slimmer waistline, begin your day with celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder's Glowing Green Smoothie Recipe for breakfast. "My clients see a difference in their skin in a few days," says Kimberly, who works with Drew Barrymore, Olivia Wilde, Owen Wilson, Josh Duhamel, Channing Tatum, and Vince Vaughn. "Because you're blending these greens into a liquid, it's easier to digest and the nutrients are immediately available to energize your body," she explains. Glowing Green Smoothie
Ingredients:
-
1 1/2 cups water
-
1 head organic romaine lettuce, chopped
-
1/2 of large bunch of organic spinach (or 3/4 small bunch)
-
3 or 4 stalks organic celery
-
1 organic apple, cored and chopped
-
1 organic pear, cored and chopped
-
1 organic banana
-
Juice of 1/2 organic lemon
-
OPTIONAL: 1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems okay), 1/3 bunch organic parsley (stems okay)
DIRECTIONS
Add the water and chopped head of romaine and spinach to the blender. Starting the blender on a low speed, mix until smooth. Gradually moving to higher speeds, add the celery, apple, and pear. Add the cilantro and parsley if you choose. Fresh herbs, like cilantro and parsley, have cleansing properties that help extract heavy metals and other toxins from the body. Add the banana and lemon juice last. This recipe produces about 60 ounces. Kimberly recommends that a woman drink about 16-25 ounces every morning. You can store the rest of the liquid for a day or portion it out and freeze.
Beautylish Tip: If you don't have access to organic produce, regular fruits and vegetables are okay too, says Kimberly, who recommends soaking them with diluted apple cider vinegar to remove the pesticides.

Hi, just wondering if anyone juiced the ingredients in this recipe, instead of using a blender.

I've been drinking this smoothie and a variation of it (kale instead of spinach) off and on since last spring. I then decided to drink this for 6 weeks (2xs a day, 16+ oz per serving) and my skin looked awesome. Then these past 10 days I totally didn't make the smoothie and my skin went phffft. So yes, this works!
I would use a super ripe banana if you want to make it sweeter without adding juice or other stuff. BTW, Kimberly Synder updated the recipe with 2 cups of water to make it easier to blend. I have a regular blender, so I add the greens in batches and pulse first, then puree. I've added a little more water to make it smoother - I end up drinking a bit more when I do.

I added a little bit of simply apple juice to mine and it made it taste 10x better! I'm now on day 4 and my skin is already clearer, which is a miracle because I've been breaking out for months and nothing seems to work. I also feel like I have more energy! Definitely recommend

Just made my first batch and separated them into different containers for each day. The taste is surprisingly good! I added an orange for a little extra sweet :)

The blender she recommends to make this is insanely over priced! But then again, it might be worth it? Does nayone know the difference between using the recommended blender and using a regular blender?
