From Runway to real life

Jasmine Takes Armani Privé Spring 2011 Couture to the Street

Spring fashion from couture runways is so creative but seemingly unattainable at times. From over-the-top hairdos to shockingly bold makeup, it is difficult to see myself wearing them out proudly. As I was staring at these gorgeous photos I thought, ‘how can I do that?’ I decided to take it for a test run and recreated the model looks, wore them out in public and went back to rework the looks and make them accessible for the everyday woman.

Armani Privé Spring 2011 Couture

Giorgio Armani's take on spring couture was straight from the space age: metallic vibrant teals, silvers, and purples in sharp, geometric shapes rocked the runway at his Spring 2011 Privé show. Mirroring these sleek, futuristic fashions, Armani makeup artist Linda Cantello went fierce with strong brows, contoured cheeks and deep purple lips for the beauty look. Beauties, how does this high fashion makeup translate to everyday?

Wearing a bold statement out in public definitely makes you stand out in a crowd. I wore this out traveling on the train in the morning and definitely got stares. Being able to wear a look is all about attitude and owning it. Dark purple lipstick isn't for the everyday person and as such there are alternatives to recreating makeup inspired by runway that can be translated to real life.

Luckily, the rest of the Armani Privé beauty look was fresh faced, with just a swipe of pale eye shadow and some mascara to open up the eyes. This minimalist approach lends even more drama to the bold brows, contoured cheekbones, and deep violet lips, so if you aren't comfortable with such strong colors, go for a lighter shade of purple and lighten up on the brows to make this look your own.
