John Blaine On Tila Nguyen Hair Transformation

Since turning her life around in a posititve direction with a new glamorous look and style, Tila Nguyen changed her once extreme blonde locks to a rich dark brown. The blonde strands may have suited the old Tila Tequila but the deeper hue compliments the her perfectly now. The image to the left is from her most recent photoshoot and we are lucky enough to be able to share the first exclusive look with you Beauties! We got the inside scoop from Tila's hair stylist, John Blaine, on her hair transformation and how he styled Tila in her latest photoshoot.

We are digging Tila's darker new 'do. What was the first step in Tila's hair transformation?

Tila expressed to me that she wanted to start her transformation with her hair color. She felt she was ready for a dramatic change and she wanted to go darker. So we chose a rich brown.

We noticed the change in color but also her much softer hairstyle. What was the inspiration?

About four months after the color change, Tila expressed that she wanted to do a style change as well. We talked about various hairstyles that she liked and settled for the Glamour of the Golden Age of Hollywood as the inspiration--Women like Hedy Lamarr, Rita Hayworth, Veronica Lake, and Ava Gardner. I believe Tila's new look turned out to be a great success!

In her recent photoshoot, Tila had gorgeous curls--we HAVE to know how you created that style!

First, I blowdried Tila's hair for full volume using a cocktail of KMS Add Volume Blow Dry Lotion and KMS HairStay Style Boost. Then I spritzed Redken Thermal Setting Spray all over and set all her hair in big hot rollers. I let the rollers sit while Tila applied her makeup. After about an hour, I unraveled each roller and brushed her hair out to create the big sexy waves. Using a curling iron, I fine-tuned the shape of her waves and gave her swooping bangs. Finally, I finished it all off with KMS HairStay Dry Xtreme Hairspray to hold the style.
