For anyone who is looking for must-have prom beauty essentials, I would say to always carry eyeliner and concealer! Most of the time when people go to prom they do not want to carry a big purse with them, so as long as you have an eyeliner pencil and a little concealer, you can always stay looking fresh. Thanks and good luck everyone :)

I didn’t have the $300 dollar gown and shoes, but I did save up money to get my makeup done at MAC. At the time it was $40, which might not seem that expensive, but for a high school student who is saving up her nickels and dimes, it’s definitely a luxury.
But I know there are many girls (or guys) who can’t afford to shell out that type of money. Trust me, I completely understand. Which is why I wanted to do a prom-inspired look anyone could do on their own using affordable products.
While I wish I could have done this look with other different color schemes, I chose golden copper tones (but honestly you could change the colors to match your dress).
I started with a DIY primer (equal parts mixture of foundation, body butter and moisturizer) on the lids, and then I started with a rose golden color (second from the top left) in Wet n Wild’s collection quad (Comfort Zone). I padded the color all over my eyelids. Then I took a blending brush (ELF mineral blending brush) and took some matte black (wet n wild’s Greed palette) and smoked the color on the outer part of the eyelids and taking it pass the crease and out further. I made sure to soften the edges to soften the harsh lines and creating an almost oval shape. I patted a nice light golden color to bring some light to the middle and connect all the colors. Next I took a light white eye shadow and took it to my brow bone I also took some sparkling white glittery shadow and placed it at the arch of my brow bone and in the tear duct. Taking a pencil brush (ELF), I took a bit of the black eye shadow and took it a bit below my waterline. Then placed some of the rose golden color over it to soften it a bit. Next I took N.Y.C liquid eyeliner and created a heavy wing on my top lid (can be made thinner) to enlarge the eyes a bit more. I also lined the up and down waterline with a black kohl pencil (wet n wild). Added mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
As for the rest of the look, I used the blush from E.L.F’s studio contouring blush & bronzing duo and lightly dusted some on my cheeks. For the lips, I wish I had a really nice nude lipstick, but I don’t so I improvised and used a light rosy pink lipstick on my lips (topped with a lip gloss).
Hopefully this helps some get inspired to play around with different looks for their prom. And not to fret if they can’t afford to go all out for the big day. It’s the joy of being with your friends, and being alive and young that you remember. We’re all amazing and beautiful. Let’s not forget that. To all the soon graduating seniors: Have a wonderful prom!
