I was wondering what do you guys do to your nails to make them grow! Mine start to grow and then they break! It drives me crazy lol I want long nice nails soo bad HELP please :)
Diana, are you doing regular manicures on your nails? if not then not properly pushing back your cuticles, moisturizing your nail body and matrix will slow the natural nail growth. But if you are having problems with your nails chipping or breaking then you need moisture and possibly find a nail tech that uses Shellac or United Nails products. They are made for natural nails and you can wear the polish for 2 weeks or more before needing your next manicure. Hope this helps.

Thank you ladies! Great advice, I use to get artificial nails for about years straight without giving my nails breathing room, and now im trying to grow them natural. thanks for the advice :)
Your welcome... if you are growing them out after artificial nails, you should get weekly manicures to help them.. and using shellac by CND will help you from getting so discouraged about the growth. It is natural for them the break after artificial nails so keep them hydrated and possibly get a paraffin wax treatment while at the spa/salon to help the matrix and skin absorb more moisture.
Shellac is great.. it is a polish gel system that soaks off and is made for natural nails. there is no filing or buffing of the nail body to apply this product. Your Nail Tech just gives your nails a manicure and applies shellac like polish. There is also a new company that has a polish gel system called UNITED NAILS. You may ask your Nail Tech about if they carry it. It is a newer technology and is suppose to last longer than the shellac. So don't be afraid to ask your nail tech what products she uses. Visit a reputable Nail Tech and not the Discount Salon. If you are visiting a Discount salon you have no idea what you are really missing by visiting a spa/salon where the nail tech can speak to you and you can ask the correct questions without the language barrier.
I use this thing called Quimica Alemana, which literary says Chemical German, or if translated properly in English : German Chemical. It sounds harsh but it's amazing! The only thing that works on me, I HAD soft short nails that would break all the time but now within short few weeks (I saw results on the 3rd day! ) I had longer, harder, stronger, and beautiful nails! The price range goes from $7-$10 and sometimes you can find it in drugstores, they sell it in every pharmacy here ( CVS, Walgreens, some other local pharmacies.)
Like Mary, I use Avon's Nail Experts' Strong Results (length & strength complex). It works wonders! When I grow my nails, I apply it two times a day, day & night religiously. They grow and grow strong (harden). If you're filing, be careful with the way you file. If you file your nails unevenly, you're giving yourself open access for your nails to break easier. My nails get so hard that I can't even bend them!
I had a rare problem a while back where my nails where chipping and it seemed like they were getting thinner due to me not really being on a great diet I suppose. I started taking Biotin supplements, I always kept a coat or two of NailTek II on my nails, and I kept cuticle lotion, oil, or cream with me everywhere. Making sure they are protected, yet nourished has helped me tremendously.

Hi Diana!
We actually have some great tips about nail growth that you can use: http://www.beautylish.com/a/vmgin/h...
Although that's used for post-artificial nail treatments, they will still help you!
