So I was reading that you could shave with coconut oil. Is this any kind? Like could I go to the stores organic section and get the jar of solid stuff? Or is it something more specialized? This sounds like exactly what I have been looking for!
It sounds like a messy disaster waiting to happen. I've never heard of that one before.

Well I found an article and it just says the stuff at the health food store for cooking etc. I will see if I can find the link Shelley about how to do it. Sounds like it had big fans.

I've has some success shaving with oil, but since I use an oily body moisturizer I went back to soap or shaving cream.
Oil (coconut or olive oil, mainly) is good to shave with because:
1. It moisturizes your skin while you shave. Soap and shaving cream can dry out skin, especially because shaving is a kind of manual exfoliator. Oil is what your skin naturally produces to moisturize itself, so it produces less oil on its own when you apply oils externally.
2. Oils are friends to metal! Water and soap cause rust on your razor, which is made of metal. Really, putting metal in the shower is the worst thing you can do for it! Shaving with oil helps your razor stay sharper longer, and prevents skin irritation caused by rusty razors.
But if you want to try it, I would use extra virgin olive oil rather than coconut.

I tried the coconut oil and I like it. I forgot I have shaved with oil before but it made the tub uber slick. Super soft shave
I heard that coconut oil can clog your drain.

I could see if you were using a ton but you don't use that much and it turns liquid at like 75 degrees.
I always shave outside the shower . I am a blonde and my leg hairs grow back blonde. :/ So the more light I have the better . I use basicaly any hydrating lotion. So coconut oil will do just shave outside the shower because it will clog tyour drain .
