Anyone else out there suffer from this contradiction? I know it makes me crazy! My skin is very tempermental. If I wash it more than once or twice a day, it will break out badly. But an hour after washing it gets oily again. Obviously if I didn't wash it it would be worse. I have tried many things, salicylic acid based scrubs mixed with gentle cleansers and moisturizers seem to be the best mix for me. After that I use blotting papers, powder, and concealer that had drying properties to keep the "shiny" under control.
What works for you?
The more moisturizer you use, the less oil your face needs to produce. Also, the cleanser you're using may be breaking you out. A gentle scrub and moisturizer in the morning, and a rinse in warm or cool water + toner + a good moisturizer at night. :)
Yes that is what I have found to work best for me (; I use an apricot salicylic acid scrub 2-3 times a week an wei rose water cleanser or strides sensitive with aloe if I'm feeling lazy (: aloe Vera is my #1 moisturizer during the day but I also use sunscreen based tint if I'm going to be outside, and Kiehls abyssine cream on wrinkle prone/dry areas at night. Which products work best for you? I like to keep my routine fresh as skin is ever-changing!!
i have EXTREME oily skin what i found that helps is a primer and urban decay setting spray
I have the same problem which led me to a temper tantrum melt down crying to my husband for four hours (bit dramatic I know) he went an bought me Cetaphil daily cleanser, oil free moisturizer and Milk of Magnesia to help control oil and I have to say, I havent had to blot my face ONCE since this has been my new routine.
@Niki How do you use Milk of Magnesia?
What I've been doing is after I wash my face, apply moisturizer and let it dry for a few minutes. Then I take a cotton ball and dip it in a little bit of MOM and lightly sweep it across my oily areas. I do so my face feels more of a cool sensation rather than wet (I've heard it can be chalky if too much is applied). I let that dry for a few minutes then apply my primer and the rest of my makeup. I do this at like 7 in the morning and after a long day in the salon, when I leave around 5 my face is only dewy looking! It's saved me honestly.
I will definitely have to try that! Ive never heard of it before. Btw your husband is awesome, if I cried over make up to mine he'd leave the room and tell me to grow up..lol.
