Heat up your flat iron, wait for it to cool down a bit. While it's still warm (not hot, don't burn yourself!) wipe it clean with a damp towel. That should do the trick.
Usually when i straighten my hair i keep a damp cloth near . After i straighten or curl a couple of pieces i drag my flat iron or curling iron through it. Then when im finished an it colla for a bit i wipe off what was missed.
