Counter Confidential
"Trend Revival" by Undercover Beauty Agent
If you’re a huge beauty lover, you might follow seasonal trends. When new collections for spring or fall arrive at my counter, I can count on the die-hard trend followers to return. But sometimes the seasonal trends are just uninspiring. We've all experienced this feeling at some point. I’ll have a client who comes in to see our new products with excitement leave disappointed because she just doesn’t like what’s trending. At times, a customer will buy something simply because it’s “in.” I say, stay true to who you are and start your own trend. If you can’t think of anything new (and even designers have a hard time with this one) there’s nothing wrong with bringing back beloved trends from that past. Here are the trends I always love to revive. Beauties, what are your favorite retro looks?
PIN-UP GIRL
Marilyn Monroe embodies what we think of as “old Hollywood glam.” Try soft, sleek curls on your hair, and full red lips. This look from the ‘50s will definitely make you stand out.
Beautylish Recommends: Stila Long Wear Liquid Color in Fiery
MOD LASHES
Twiggy was known for her extreme lashes during the ‘60s. Modernize this look by wearing top and bottom false lashes, and then applying a generous amount of mascara.
Beautylish Recommends: Maybelline Volum' Express the Falsies Mascara in Black
DISCO FEVER
The '70s were all about the glitz and glam of disco. Add some sparkle to the eyes or lips, but don’t turn your entire face into a disco ball. Just a touch of glitter on the eyes will turn your makeup up a notch when you’re going out.
Beautylish Recommends: NYX Glitter on the Go

I dressed up as Marilyn Monroe from 7 Year Itch for a fancy dress party had loads of comments on my makeup. I loved the big red lips and flicks of eye liner. Such a flattering look.

Taking a look in the past is always quite inspirational, I posted recently an article on my blog about the makeup from 1920's to nowadays... and after that I decided to do tutorial of 1960's makeup, lashes here and there... If someone's might be interested, the video is on my profile.

I'll go with the pin up look. The disco look is fun but chunks of glitter getting in your eyes....not so fun.

The Pin Up look will never go out of style for obvious reasons, it's gorgeous on everyone. Men grew up with that image of Marilyn and they can't resist it. I would be careful with the Mod look, you don't want to over do it on the mascara or you'll end up looking like Tammy Faye more than Twiggy lol.

DO the top one already, its a go to look that never fails. I am going to do the bottom one tomorrow since I was already dressing like a hippie and the third one is going to Lovevolution(http://www.sflovevolution.org/) in San Francisco. Thanks :)
