How To: Winged Eye Liner

There is something about the simple winged eye liner look that appears flattering on everyone. The extra flick of liner has been done by women since the '50s and to this day, it still adds that extra dose of glamour to any look. It's surprisingly a very easy look to do yourself with any eye liner. Liquid, gel and cream eyeliners gives a precise line and pencil and eyeshadow gives a soft line. Beauty guru and makeup artist Jasmine—also known as Jazziebabycakes—demonstrates how to create a simple winged eye liner with a liquid pen!
HOW TO Winged Eyeliner
For easy application, hold or set a mirror at chin level and look downwards. If you have unsteady hands, rest your elbows on a table. Gently drag the pen along the lashline and past the top outer corner of your eye. Follow the upward curve of your eye with the eye liner. For a dramatic winged look, draw farther out and angle the liner more.
Now to create the winged effect at the outer corners! Start at the outer corner of the line you just drew and work back toward your eye, using a light sketching technique with the pen in short strokes.
As you get closer to the inner lash line, draw a thinner line. You want the effect of the liner to be thin to thick from the inner corner of the eye to the outer.

Follow the natural shape of your eye and connect the liner to the inner corner of your eye. Fill in any missing spaces along the lash line. Repeat on your other eye and voilà, you've completed your winged eye liner!
Beautylish Tip: Practice makes perfect, so don't get discouraged if you don't get it right the first time. Keep trying and you'll nail down the technique in no time!
I can do it with a pencil too but liquid and cream liner never works for me for some reason :(
I can do it with a pencil. Pen.. hahahaha... yeahh.. riiight. :P I will not give up though ^_^
Thanks for this tutorial! I need to get practicing!
This is a go to look for me, love the cat-eye.
an other trick to do is to line the eyes with your pencil-eyeliner. use concealer to fix up any mistakes, and once you've got the perfect line - go over it with some liquid or any black eyeshadow. that's how i do it!
Luv this tuitorial i can totally do this with powder but liquid will be tricky practice makes perfect right thanks yo
I use the outer part of my eyebrow as a guide. an easy way to match up angles :)
It took me at least a thousand times to get winged eyeliner! But now that I did, life is complete!!
Btw... Looooove that ring in the pics. It was hard to focus on anything else haha
I tried my first attempt at liquid winged eyeliner today. Not perfect, but I love it! Definitely something I will do more of this summer! What eyeliner pen is she using in the tutorial?
I used a K Palette 24 hour Tattoo Eyeliner Pen. I bought it from a Japanese grocery store but you can find them online as well on amazon.
I love the first picture!!! It´s so hard for me to do the winged liner look because I have droopy eyes :( so I never know where to draw the wing so it doesn´t end up in a crease....not sure how to explain it. But I think I will def use the first picture to try and do the same line on my eyes...
Oh I completely understand your pain! I have the "hooded eyes" as well so when I try to do the winged eyeliner it ends up being hidden under my eyelid!
