Long, Airy Bristles Designed for Powders

The saikoho goat bristles in this set are dyed with kakishibu (persimmon tannin extract) by Mr. Fujimori Uematsu, a master artisan for whom this craft is more than a technique—it’s a true passion. Sonia has seen firsthand how much joy the dyeing process brings him, and that care comes through in every brush.
Kakishibu dyeing is slow, exacting work that requires patience, precision, and a deep understanding of natural fibers. The result is more than a beautiful color: the dye gives the bristles a distinctive grip, helping them pick up powders smoothly while staying soft, calm, and comfortable on the skin.
Keyaki Wood, Beautifully Balanced
Each brush is finished with a Keyaki wood handle, a native Japanese wood prized for its strength, warmth, and natural character. The handles are well-balanced and comfortable to hold, giving each brush a grounded, steady feel in the hand.
Packaging Worth Keeping
This special set arrives in a vertical paulownia wood box coated with kakishibu dye for a deeper, richer hue. It protects the brushes during transport, then separates into two individual cups that can be used as brush holders.
The laser-engraved illustration nods to the materials behind the set: persimmon and keyaki zelkova leaves on the upper section, and the calyx of the persimmon fruit on the lower section.
