I know that one of the biggest reasons I avoid wash and goes is not that I don’t love my curls and coils but I don’t want to deal with the detangle session and potential breakage on my next wash day (although it’s 100% easier since doing the max hydration method). Since I’m doing the Maximum Hydration Method, I decided that one great way to help with detangling is to pre-steam. I know another step in this process, but I’m telling you it’s worth it and helps reduce shedding even more that the process does alone. If you don’t have a handheld steamer like I do, you can always sit under a steamer for about 10-15 minutes to help loosen your hair and do some pre-finger detangling.
