Brushworks by Chris. Beginner Brush Recommendations for makeup application. The essential brushes that I recommend for people who are novice in makeup, and want to complete a basic, yet flawless, look are the MAC 190, 116, 208, and 239. These four brushes can be purchased from mac for under $100. While, these 4 brushes are very versatile and can complete many looks, i also recommend the addition of 3 brushes to reduce blending and application time. Those brushes are the 134, 109, and 217. Note: I do not recommend using concealer and powder 2 or more shades lighter or darker if you are going for a natural or everyday look.
