One purpose a plant produces essential oil is to protect itself from the environment; including bugs. We can also use the protective properties of essential oils and use them to protect ourselves from bug bites and stings. Try this easy recipe for a natural bug repellant using essential oils.
Essential oils that are effective against particular bugs:
Lavender - moths
Basil - mosquitoes
Thyme - fly, mosquitoes
Vetiver - mosquitoes
Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil) - lice, ticks, fleas, leeches, mosquitoes
Peppermint - mosquitoes
Eucalyptus - fly
