You shouldn't "go on a diet," you should CHANGE your diet, ie your lifestyle. Diets don't work, don't last. You have to make a commitment to living a healthy life. Fads may make you drop weight but it won't stay off and they aren't always healthy.

How old are you?

So recently I got this book called "Eat Right 4 your Blood Type" I ya a book about how to eat and exercise according to which blood type you are. I have been reading the book a little and it says it will improve many things about you in the healthiest way possible. I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if it actually works! I've never gone on a diet before and I'm curious to know!

I would take a gander at all the criticisms on the page- by scientists. If scientists doubt the diet, then their opinion should be trusted. This sounds like a dumb fad- blood types have nothing to do with what you should eat- that's irrelevant. The diet industry is just that- full of fads. There are tons of plans and diets and programs. They don't really care if you become healthier or lose weight (some at least). They make money (lots of it) off of the fact that you will struggle, slip off, and gain weight, hence needing their services. Books, scales, foods, etc. are all sold and plus, some programs cost money. Coming from someone who did the Atkins Diet and Weight Watchers- losing about 30lbs each time than gaining back the weight and some, "diets" are really hard to stick to. After 30 lbs my body hit a plateau, it felt like I was in a famine and wanted to hold onto the energy source, aka fat as long as possible. I suggest you thoroughly research any diet to see if its safe, and most importantly talk to your doctor first. We're talking about your health here- which is of the utmost importance. My psychiatrist who was a pediatrician reccommened the Atkins diet, so I trusted his opinion as he is a doctor in two fields of medicine and it worked for me at first. Feel free to eat better and ramp up the excercise but be smart about where you get your info from. Kit's fitness vids look like a great place to start while you figure this all out.

Sorry for the rant, girl!

I am 16. I am a runner so I pretty active. I just feel that I am not getting all the nutrients and food I need. I'm not looking to lose weight but rather live a healthier life style in regards to what I eat

Kinsey that's a good reason:) I would just make sure you so some research into any type of eating plan, plus make sure it's something you'll be able to stick with.

Yes thank you for the advice! @Julianne thank you for the advice! I will look into the book more an ask my doctor about it. I have heard about those fads an I will continue to look into this diet and others as well

I'd say maybe you should seek out a nutritionist? Maybe she could break down what you eat, and help fill in those holes where you need more healthy stuff. That is great that you are a runner! And eating healthier will only help you become even better at what you love.
