My advice would be advertise to local dress retailers to pass the word on, give them cards with a girls pagaent makeup picture on it that you did. Put your best work on it and post that in places those girls go especially tanning salons, cosmetic dentistry places etc.

Those people will pay BANK for make up artists if you do what they like. Ive seen one case where a woman paid a woman that did her daughters makeup for pagaents FULLTIME to quit her regular day job and be available to work solely with and for her daughter! a 40/hr a week salary that matched what her other job was paying her just to be available whenever her little girl needed her makeup done for pageants. Wowowow.

You want to market to the families. Not the agency

Teens and miss America but am not sure how to approach these client base

Because you're in the south you will have a good chance to work with pageants however note that local pageants for Miss America (locals) won't necessarily pay a pro. HOWEVER I would suggest also offering your services to contestants directly. Also in the south children's pageants are big and while many moms do their own children's makeup many - especially in the glitz pageants - will shell out big bucks.

The question is what KIND of beauty pageants are you looking to get into? Children, teens, adults, Miss America system, Miss USA system, other pageant system?

There are pageant agencies that have evens all the time. Agree with Gin reach out to them and advertise through them. Tell them about the rates, your site etc and they might refer clients to you.

your best bet is to get in touch with the production company that produces the pageants or get the individual contestants to book you - that will require marketing yourself to pageant moms

I know there is alot of money in pageants, I just want to know how to go about getting booked for said job. I have a portfolio and I have worked fashion shows, but I don't know how to break into the pageant business. Any help would be awesome :)
