Do you have to moisturizer after doing an ocm? Or is it unnecessary?

I just recently tried the OCM. At first I just used coconut oil but read that castrol oil should be one of the essential oils. So now I either mix 20% cold pressed castrol oil with 80% almond oil or use castrol oil with coconut oil. I have tried this for more than a week and I love the results. My skin is becoming less oiler as the day progresses and this method has not broke me out. I mix the oil and rub it in my skin to remove my makeup and to cleanse. I than take a washcloth and run it under hot tap water, squeeze out excess water and place the cloth on my face and pat. I do this about 2-3 times until my skin feels clean but moisturized. I would recommend this to anyone who has oily/acne prone skin. Make sure that the oils your using is cold pressed (castrol oil) and its 100% pure.

As an extension of Danielle D.'s comment, I work at an Aveda salon and she is right about the products but you don't have to apply water to the face before putting the product on. Just put the product on the skin, massage then rinse.

I just started using an oil cleanser as a daily face wash. I've always used one as a make up remover, but my skin is severely dry so I thought I'd give it a try for winter. Right now I'm using the sephora brand. I'm pleased with my results so far.
The thing is, you can't use just any oil. Most oil cleansers have a mineral oil base, the reason being is mineral oil is too large to penetrate your skin. So the cleanser stays on top, and won't make your skin oily. If you use an oil that can penetrate to wash your face, you might end up with problems.
My fave oil cleanser is Shu Umera. But its just too expensive to use daily :-(

I use oil daily to wash my face and oil as a moisturizer. I was afraid at first but my skin has never been better. I live in the south and it's super humid but my skin is never greasy. good luck.

I did it and steamed my face about 10 times (lol) to make sure all othe oil wouldnt break me out. I followed with a light toner and my skin glowed for days afterwards. I would only reccommend doing this about 2 or three times a month though to avoid breakouts.

Aveda has about 4 or 5 different composition oils. The all sensitive and the beautifying compositions are known to be used for a pre-clense form. Just moisten your skin, spread the oil on your face and then cleanse your face again with a gel, cream or foam facial cleanser.

Great topic, Jassy! We actually launched a story about this back in May:

I, myself, use and adore Dermalogica's Precleanse. While you can use regular oils like olive or jojoba, I prefer hydrophyllic formulations because they rinse easier.

Been looking at some videos & reading articles, and blog post about how amazing this is for the face. Oil against Oil & it clears the face miraculously. I usually use olive oil for moisturizing my face & its always softer then a babies bottom.
Have you tried it ? Tell me watcha think ?
