For my senior prom, I was thinking of getting my makeup done at MAC. If any of you ladies got your makeup done at MAC, what was your experience there? And did you like the final look?

I had my makeup done at MAC before... but it was a long time ago. If I remember correctly you need to spend $50 in products. Atleast that was what it used to be like. But that isnt hard. They did do a good job and it did last all night. I purchased some of the products that they used so I was able to touch up on my makeup throughout the night. If you go to a salon, chances are it will be about the same amount or a little bit more. But some salons use MAC these days as well. I personally find it hard to walk away from the counter only spending $50 especially after someone has spent that much time beautifying me. (I guess that is why my makeup collection is so large... haha). I would recommend calling around getting prices and seeing what kind of makeup the salons use. I know that where I live there are some pretty great salons that are award winning for makeup and waxing. PLUS... your MAC person might be doing your makeup and selling 2 other people at the same time. MAC counters are extremely busy and you are going to be on a time crunch. You dont need your MAC person walking away to ring up other people and leave you sitting there 1/2 finished! Just a few things to think about. I hope that I helped. I hope that you have a blast at your prom!!!

Thanks ladies! I just want to make sure I feel confident with the makeup. But I do see that MAC counters are busy because sometimes they only have two people working!

i got mine done for my senior ball about 6 years ago and it was $40 purchase of products and you got it done, not bad. now i just do my own but if i have a question about a shadow cordinating to another they will do a "demo" or a face chart for you too.

when i was in a wedding i had them fill me out a face chart and i purchased the products (that i didnt have) and did it myself!

Keep in mind you'll need to make an appointment ASAP. I don't know when you prom is but typically they don't make appointments more than a month out.

That said, I think that what Mac does (charging $50 for makeup by making the customer buy the products) is a bit sneaky. Granted you could always return the cosmetics, unopened of course, but that too is sneaky. Wish Mac would go back to doing the makeup for free. I feel that a person should be able to see if the makeup looks right on them or if they have a reaction to it before buying but like I said there are always returns.

Yasmin, I was thinking the same thing too. I just hope the final look will look great. And I have a couple MAC products already so Im pretty sure I won't get reactions to any of them. Well, Im crossing my fingers

If I were you, I would go to MAC tell them what color your dress is and have them do a face chart for you. That way, you can re-create the look yourself! You can even find dupes for the colors they used. I, personally, would go the must cheaper and efficient route. Also putting into consideration that you may be crunched for time the day of your prom!

Veronika, I'm actually scared to do my own makeup >.<
I did my own makeup for this past winter ball, but i didn't feel great wearing it. I actually ended up doing my sisters makeup and I liked hers wayyy better than mines lol.
But thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely take that into consideration :)

Getting your makeup done at a makeup counter before prom is a great idea! If you're stumped on what to spend your minimum purchase on, I'd recommend the lipstick or gloss that they use on you. After all, at some point in the evening, you'll need to touch up the color. And if you're at MAC, check out their blot powder--it's a sleek pressed powder compact that ensures you won't look greasy in your pics.

@Ning C. Im kind of stumped on what to get for the minimum purchase. I don't know if I should get the lipstick or lip gloss they use on me or something else because I hardly ever use lipstick. But i know Ill have to touch up throughout the night. The blot powder is a great suggestion. Thanks!
