I really like the honey and sugar mixture. It really works!!! And it tastes amazing! Especially since I added a little bit of lemon juice to it :)

I found that mixing sugar and olive oil and microwaving it a tiny bit made it the perfect consistancy. I also added some of my lipglosses from the Body Shop that I don't use to add a delicious smell to them. I found the smell of olive oil sickening and now I have a mint lip scrub and a watermelon lip scrub that I love. I never eat them anyways but just enjoy the smell.

The salt and sugar scrub is a hot mess.. it actually made my lips worse and it burns lol... the only thing ive done that i actually like is when I brush my teeth I brush my lips as well.. it takes off the dead skin and blood rushes to your lips so it looks pink :)

I just tried this and it works! I love it! Thanks!

If you want a natural lip scrub - definitely don't use the vaseline! Petroleum is anything but natural!

A drop of fresh lemon juice (it doesn't take much) and enough sugar to make it not run. Keep excess in the refrigerator.

These tips are so awesome, especially for the winter! I like to also brush my lips with my toothbrush after washing my teeth, too. (And then running my toothbrush under really hot water to sanitize.)  <3

The Vitamin E helps in moisturizing and soothing the lip area. I think you can just do with olive oil but try experimenting and see what works best with your lips!

Thanks! :) and what about the vitamin e capsule?

Hi Alexandra! In the original recipe it says you can omit the aspirin and add more brown sugar if you prefer, it will still exfoliate well :)

victoria do u need the aspirin? Will the rest of the ingredients exfoliate your lips well enough?

These are great tips, beauties! We posted a fab DIY lip scrub recipe a few weeks back :)

Exfoliating Lip Scrub

Clean container

4 aspirin – The inexpensive kind without a coating

2 teaspoon of brown sugar

2 teaspoon of honey

1 teaspoon of olive oil

1 vitamin E capsule

In your clean container, add in the aspirin and a few drops of water to break them down. Mix in all the other ingredients and your lip scrub paste is ready! You can omit the aspirin and add in more brown sugar if you like. If your consistency is too dry, add in more extra virgin olive oil. If your scrub is too wet, add in more brown sugar. You can use your finger or a toothbrush to apply the scrub to your lips.

The best time to exfoliate your lips (and skin) is during a shower when the skin is soft and pliable.

Another method to make a homemade scrub.

¼ cup sugar/sea salt
½ cup honey
½ cup olive oil

Mix the oil and honey well then add the salt or sugar to the mixture. Allow the salt/sugar to absorb the oil/honey mixture then apply to skin during a shower. NOTE: Olive oil WILL make your tub/stall slippery so if you have a rubber bathmat please use it.

This is an awesome tip!
What I usually do is mix olive oil and sugar and rub my lips to take off the flakes.
I want to try this and compare (:
