for dark skin- try makeup forever hd foundation, nars, mac. good cheepies black opal, l'oreal, revalon. I think the key to no looking clownish is to blend, blend, blend- use clean brush to remove harsh lines to give a feathers/ airbrushed look....

NARS, Makeup Forever, & MAC have a great range of colors for us brown skinned ladies.. I also would have to agree with the comment above, I think being darker we have a bit of an advantage because we can get away with more color without look clownish, but it's all about blending and making sure nothing is too stark. Greens/golds tend to be the eye colors that look best on me, and brands like Urban Decay, Smashbox, MAC, and Stila have beautiful colors.

I've found that golds look fabulous on darker skin (jealous!). Urban Decay has a color called Half Baked that would look absolutely lovely on your skin tone. Something that would look great on your eyes would be a nude colored eye with a darker color in your crease and a pop of gold in the outer corner of your eyes. If you're interested in more colorful makeup, a solid robin's blue color would make your skin and eyes absolutely pop.

Benefit also has this great foundation called "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation. It's a light to medium coverage and very hydrating. It also has anti-aging benefits. It's a great everyday foundation if you're not looking for full coverage and seems to work on practically every skin tone. For another plus, it has SPF!

Neutral looks. Gold and bronzes look really nice on darker skin tones. Also a pop of color on the lower lash line looks nice. I do that instead of color on my lids. :)

try ubran decay naked palettes are great for what you are looking for but its mostly about trial and error and what you like and dont like. and i know that this may sound crazy but you are the same skin tone as my sister and she looks GREAT in brights like purples, blues and even yellow but you just need to try some first and if your just starting dont buy very expensive just in case you dont like them you dont want to be stuck with make up that you hate that cost a tun of $$ you and go to some where like walmart or target and set the maybelline color tattoos they some in a varity of colors and they are a great buy for the quality and just play with them to see what you like. Good Luck
