Hi ladies! So, like everyone else that doesn't live under a rock, I've been hearing a lot about BB creams. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but to me they sound basically the same as a tinted moisturizer! I've never tried a BB cream before, so I would love to hear from some of you to explain just what the difference is!

Thanks!! :)

From the BBs I've tried (all American ones, both drugstore and high-end), they are supposed to be tinted moisturizers plus more-- whether that be longevity, benefits for your skin, or the overall quality of the finish. I've not tried any of the "original" Asian BB creams, but from what I've researched those are meant to be replacements for foundation. BB creams claim to combine primer, anti-aging ingredients, and skin tone evening coverage all in one. So basically they are a one-step wonder product!
The American BBs I've tried from the drugstore are just tinted moisturizers: very light coverage, and a dewey to greasy finish, depending on your skin type to being with. They function fine if you are looking for something easy to use but don't rely on much coverage. I have tried the Garnier and the Maybelline BB creams from the drugstore. I was not impressed with either, as I felt they really were just tinted moisturizers with the buzzword "BB Cream" stuck on the label. As far as high-end, I've only used the Boscia BB, but it performs much better. I got a natural finish and a bit more coverage, which was exactly what I expected. You would still need to do spot concealing if you have any skin issues. The prices for both drugstore and high-end BB creams seem to run about the same as foundations, so you're looking at $8-15ish drugstore, and $30+ for the fancy stuff. They are definitely worth checking out if you just want something that you can throw on that will not look like you're really wearing anything, but just like you have good skin. I would not say that any of the 3 I have used qualify as foundation replacements. If you already have a TM that works well for you, I wouldn't say you absolutely need to run out an purchase a BB cream. If you are interested in trying one of the Asian ones, which I have heard perform much better than the American versions, you can find them very inexpensively on Amazon and quite a few of the sellers include samples of other formulas with your purchase so you can find the one that will work best for you. Hope this incredibly long post helps!

If you can purchase online, buy from Skin79. I've used several of their BB creams and they've replaced concealer and foundation for me. American BB creams simply don't compare.

Also check out the blog Musings of a Muse. Izzy's written loads of BB cream reviews, both Asian and western brands.

Bb creams were originally used for post surgery on the face to speed up the healing process, loaded with TONS of vitamins for anti-aging and everything in between. You'll notice a lot of brands only have 1 color, the reason for this is because it's not meant to be a foundation but recently people are using it as that because of the awesome skin care benefits it contains. SPF/hydrating/oil controlling/etc. a tinted moisturizer is about 80% moisturizer and 20% tint, meant for sheer coverage and mostly as a sheer "foundation".

<3 hope this helps! :)

Nothing, they are both the same, similar products with different names by different brands and over rated. Just my opinion, waste of money.

The American version of BB creams simply doesn't compare with the Asian BB creams. Tinted moisturizers dont have the benefits of a BB cream. Like someone else said, tinted moisturizer is essentially sheer foundation. I really hate foundation. It's heavy and annoying to work with for me. Asian BB creams are much lighter and are far less damaging to your skin than regular foundation is. It is an all in one package fore healthier skin. Most BB creams are water based, which means that they aren't as likely to clog pores. Also, it's easier to apply. You don't need a lot, just several dots on the key points of your face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, extra where you need it) and that's it. Asian BB creams also have many ingredients that are good for your skin, whereas foundation, there is not much.

I really like the Missha perfect cover bb cream, Skin79 BB cream, The Face Shop Aqua tinted BB cream, and the Liole water drop BB cream.
