Foundation Not Sticking

I had cystic acne that I would cover up with tons of foundation and concealer. I decided to let my skin breathe for just a few months... so I switched to Meow Cosmetics. It's mineral... and since I needed a lot of coverage, I got their Fierce Feline line (offers the most coverage), and I will say that... it covered pretty much the same as my old routine. Except my face didn't look too caked on, and my skin was actually breathing versus suffocating under the foundation.

My face has cleared since then, and I'm back to wearing liquid.

You should try LoLade Pro Cosmetics' liquid mineral powder foundation. It provides a full coverage and goes on like a liquid but dries like a powder. Great stuff!  www.loladecosmetics.com

I do like a lot of coverage, that's why I don't like powder foundation alone. I just found a combo I kinda like so far. I'm always switching it up trying to find the best combo. Right now I'm liking a tinted moisturizer I got :)

Try moisturising and then only a little bit of primer, I find that using the MAC 190 and applying the liquid foundation in a sort of stippling motion it keeps it in place longer and you get great results! Hope you get it sorted! :)

Get a sample of the Chanel moisturizer and serum...the sample alone will help your skin...that stuff is AMAZING!

Have you only used liquid foundations? If your skin really doesn't like it (and given that you're undergoing formal education in skincare, we can safely assume that you're not just super-oily and in denial about it) then it might be time to consider powder and mineral foundations.

Brittany I'm not even sure, like I've tried everything from high end to like Revlon. I just got an Illamasqua one, so I'm gonna try that. I'm also gonna try the Nars tinted moisturizer.

What Brand because a few of my foundations do that!

Thanks Raisa. A couple of days a bought a few to try. I usually try to test foundations for a week or so. I like a lot of foundation, because I think I'm in denial of how much better my skin is looking you know? I used to have horrible acne (From hormonal changes) so I still see it bad. But I'll try it and see how that works.

I know this is gonna sound perhaps too simple and perhaps overly expensive but I suggest you keep trying diff foundations (give them a week test trial) till you find the one that won't and trust me you will. Also, I know I was an AVID foundation user until an esthetician told me " why are u using that? U r in your twenties unless you have severe acne or redness you do NOT need foundation" she redirected me to tinted moisturizers and I never looked back. Often time we younger girls 30> use stuff that is JUST TOO HEAVY for our skin. My skin has never felt better and to be honest foundation is risky business especially if you don't need it. I suggest you look at a tinted moisturizer or BB cream

I'm actually an esthetician in training. I know for sure that my skin type is normal. I've tried so many different combos...

Are the moisturizer, primer and foundation all the same base? Water based/silicone based, etc?

I know summer is comeing and to be honest LESS IS MORE during this sesason. so try to minimize your make up usage. Let your NATURAL beauty shine out ;) Try just useing a washing regime, add primer and then just put on a tiney bit of glowing/ or bronzeing powder on. That is such a nice natural look and it's not cakeing on make up during the hot sweatty summer

Shelly T. is askeing very good questions. what are you useing? It could be the make up you use and posebly get into a night and morning regime. If youre haveing to add that much make up nad it dosnt stay, you may have oily skin and not know it. Just cause you dont break out dosnt mean you dont have oily skin. Try an oily skin regime, folowed with primer and a lighte/full coverage powder make up

Hmmm..I only use a moisturizer and a primer in the morning. I do blot. Also I have normal skin.

If you've got a lot of skin products, be sure to give them time to settle into the skin before you start layering on additional products. Once you're about to start with makeup, take a tissue or blot sheet and dab your face to pick up any excess. That's my personal fail safe as the months get warmer.

Also, check for compatibility not just between skin care and foundation.. but your primer too. Even though I've got madly oily skin (especially come summer), most primers make a hot mess of any foundation I wear. Silicone, non-silicone.. I get the same result; zero adhesion.

I agree with Andii J. I was having the same problem a few years back and it was because of using too many products and not using the right formulas for my skintype. Definitely blotting after each step before applying concealer and powder helps big time.

I literally change up my foundations every week. Always trying to figure it out. My lotion is oil free. And I do know all about skin care. (Well not all but I'm going to school for it!) I always use primer. It's not slipping and sliding throughout the day. It just won't stick to my actual skin. Only in certain spots though. Like on my occipital area and on my nose. Then I have to use more.

What foundation are you using? Are you using primer (or a moisturizer) underneath it (and, if so, which one)? What's your skincare routine?

It could be the formula or brand of foundation you're using. It might not be right for your skin type. I'd recommend using a good moisturizer before applying foundation and see if that helps. It helps my foundation stick and look natural. I use Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense moisturizer.

What brand foundation are you using?

I'm having some real issues with my makeup. For some reason foundation doesn't like to stick to my skin. I'm talking, right when I put it on. It doesn't cover how I want it to. I have to put a lot on for it to cover redness. I've used concealer too, and it covers for a minute and then I have to put more on just to make the redness go away. I've used color correctors as well, and that seems to make it worse. I've also used a ton of different primers and formulas. My skin looks good after I've done everything. But summer is coming up and I don't want to wear as much foundation. Since I have to use more cover up just to even out my skin tone, I'm looking somewhat cakey. Like I get those smile lines and everything. (I've even tried putting eyeshadow primer on them!) I've tried light to full coverage and nothing is working out for me. What do you guys think is up with this?
