I dyed my hair a few months ago and since then it's been dry and brittle, I heard coconut oil is suppose to moisturize your hair and make its soft and shiny, from what I've read is a" miracle at home remedy" I was wondering if any of you use coconut oil or have tried it and how did it work?

OMG I live off that stuff! You can also use it as a body lotion, massage oil, and facial moisturizer :)

My hair has grown a lot in the past 6 months from using it. Its a lot thicker too.
As for brand, it doesn't matter, as long as you buy organic, cold pressed, virgin coconut oil...the natural unprocessed stuff :) try a health food store or iherb.com

Trader Joes! Because you can use it for other things as well. (Face, body, hair) best thing, it's only $5!! And it's a decent sized jar.

Thanks so much the different types and have to love trader joes! @sarah k. I'm actually trying to get my hair longer and was wondering what you do. Do you use it like a masque conditioner and rinse out or you apply a little into damp clean hair?

I dye my hair a lot so I have the same problem. I bought some coconut oil serum stuff and it's helped a lot. I even had others say that my hair was looking healthier.

Hi Sonia L, I think it works best if you use the coconut oil as a prewash treatment. So I would suggest taking some on your fingers and rubbing them to warm up the oil, then massaging it into your scalp. Massaging improves the blood circulation to the scalp, helping hair grow. Then you should also take some oil and put it through the lengths of your hair. You can leave it for as long as you like - I usually wait anywhere between 20 mins - 3 hours before I wash out my hair. When you shampoo your hair, you may need to shampoo it twice to get all the oil out. I generally don't use any conditioner after otherwise my hair becomes a bit greasy. Hope that helps! :)
