Also how are you applying the foundation? Most of the time cakiness comes from using way too much product - you don't need more than a pea size amount for your whole face - but it can also be caused by application problems and/or underlying skin problems

If that's the case I would suggest you use concealer instead of foundation to get much fuller coverage with much less product - you may not even need foundation with the right concealer - I use a full coverage concealer over a cc cream - so the cc color corrects for redness from my acne/scars then concealer covers it up fully so you can't see it - covering up acne is tough because nothing really can stick well to raised bumps - but knowing that less product actually looks much better as opposed to caking on a lot of product so using fuller coverage will help more than using more product

Diana is on point, as always, with the great tips. I agree a great concealer with a lighter hand on foundation might be a better option for you.

Use a good primer and find out what kind of brush you should be using to apply your makeup. Use a good powder that will not emphasize dryness such as the RCMA No Color Powder.

I use so many different kinds of foundation before (my skin is oily for the most part) and it always ends up looking so gross towards the middle of the day for some reason!

It will look so dry and flaky, almost cakey looking. I have to reapply when I get home from work. I currently use Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer.

I know its not the faoundation - maybe I'm applying it wrong or need a really good primer?! Too embarrased to post a pic! :(

Maria, how is your skin as a whole, without foundation?

My skin is definitely acne prone and has acne :( I'm trying a new regimen out but it isn't seem to be helping.

I use a stippling brush to apply. And I definitely apply more than a pea size amount. But I think it's because I'm so self conscious to cover absolutely everything!
