So I have relatively greasy skin and a lot of dark patches. I wanted to know if Salicylic Acid helps with clogged pores and dark marks, or should I look into something with glycolic acid for a better dark mark treatment? Confused.

Any chemical exfoliant will help with dark marks to a degree, but treating hyperpigmentation requires more targeted ingredients than that.

Find a good salicylic acid product (I recommend Paula's Choice), and then supplement that with a high % vitamin c treatment and sunscreen. Additional ingredients to seek out include retinoids and niacinamide.

If you're looking for something affordable for vitamin c, check out the 15-20% options from Timeless and Complete Skin Solutions on Amazon. 6-8 drops mixed into your moisturizer then applied all over should be fine, but don't do this every day or night if you feel any stinging; let your skin adjust.

If you're looking for a product to even out skin tone, I would steer towards one that contains a high-quality Vitamin C. As for pores & evening out the balance of your skin, one of my favorites is Good Genes, by Sunday Riley. Her line also recently released C.E.O., as well, which is a VitC based formula. There are many brands that contain Vitamin C, but I would recommend that you get a stabilized form, if possible (like the CEO); Vitamin C is highly unstable (susceptible to light & air), another reason why many are contained in darker, air-tight containers. Regardless of which brand you select (Dr. Brandt, Dr. Gross, Drunk Elephant, etc.), you have to be religious about your application to see a benefit from any product. That, and even though you have oily skin, it's critical to moisturizer for your skin-type; your skin is actually over-producing oil because your body sees your skin as very dry, so it kicks into oil production to make up for it. I'm 48, use these products daily, and my skin looks no where near my age. They work, no doubt!! Good luck! Much love, Shelbie =)

You better check The Ordinary products. They have great serums, very effective and really affordable. I just discovered The ordinary products and after using them for 2 weeks, I either gave away or returned most of my skin care products (including Sunday Riley C.E.O, Good genes, Luna). For the dark spots try The ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA (you can see the before and after pictures of one of the reviewers) and for the uneven skin tone try their Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% (this is one of their Vit C serums). My skin is sensitive and acne prone but I don't have any issues with The ordinary skin care products. I believe they have also some good products to control the sebum production but I don't have this issue, so I can't speak from experience.
Good luck
