Hello ladies,
Recently I've noticed my foundation looks cakey!! I use primer or even moisturiser before I put my foundation on and I also use powder afterwards, any ideas on how to stop this?💋

Hi Charlie! And no I literally put my makeup straight on after applying primer and moisturiser. How long are you supposed to wait?🙈I have the W7 makeup primer and I use lasting perfection foundation

Sometimes this happens to me if I use a primer heavy in silicone. I'm not familiar with the W7 primer. I'm not the biggest fan of primers- I only use them to add hydration (TF Hangover RX or Korres Smoothie) or to add glow (BECCA Backlight or LM Radiance). I avoid silicones. I rely on skincare to prep my skin for makeup. I would experiment and skip the primer and see if it makes a difference. Also, too much product can lead to cakey looking makeup. Err on the side of too little with foundation. You can always spot conceal areas that need extra help. Agree with Charli- some products don't play nice together.

I agree with Jenni that Silicone does this to my skin type as I run dry and I just don't feel these work well with my skin. I'm not big on primers as a whole aside from spot treating a small area now and again. I'd rather just use a great moisturizer that allows for beautiful application.
I also found adding a hint of facial oil to my foundation avoids this for me if I'm using foundations with more coverage, always.

If your priming your whole face? how about just priming areas that need it? oily the zone? just do the zone, defo wait for products to absorb, I also mix a small amount of primer with my foundation rather than put on my skin, so you could try that?

Sometimes it can be the mix of products together - maybe the combo of each product you use don't work well together. You could try a face oil underneath, it could soak up any cakeyness - or add it to your foundation. I even find adding BB cream to my foundation prevents cakeyness as it is lighter and more moisturising. A face mist should also help a while lot, it tends to take away the powderyness of powder 😊
