Colors Won't Stick?

I put this in skin because I'm pretty sure it's a skin issue and not a makeup issue but I'm sorry if I'm wrong!

So recently I've noticed that I have patches on my cheeks where bronzer, blush, and contouring powder doesn't stick to. I can apply product directly to the area and it won't pick up any of the color and it won't stick if I blend the products over the area either. It's not super obvious but I know that it's happening.

When I'm not wearing makeup I can see that the areas in question are the slightest bit lighter than the rest of my skin but again it's really not that obvious, I can only see it because I'm looking for it and I know my skin.

Is this an early sign of something? Is there something I can do about it?

Is your skin dry?

No, my skin is normal to oily. I'm not experiencing any textural differences either.

Could be over exfoliation. When skin is exfoliated too much it can over-smooth the skins surface which can make it difficult for products to adhere to your skin.

this happened to me on my nose and forehead but mine had like a glass-like shine even though I wasn't oily. I think it looked shiny cause the skin is kind of thinner there whereas your cheeks have thicker skin so you wouldn't really see that overly shiny effect.

The same thing pretty much happened to me like Aurora mentioned, except it was when I left hair removal cream on my lip for too long hahah. But it made it ridiculously smooth and my foundation wouldn't stay on that area, so maybe it is over exfoliation for your cheeks.

I've actually cut down on exfoliating and my foundation seems to stick to those areas just fine, it's just my powder products that don't seems to attach.

Hi Alexis! Are the products you're using still pretty new?

Monica, do you mean the makeup? It's the same products I've always used.

Hmm, how often do you clean your brushes?

Yeah the makeup, could it be going out of date?

My brushes are clean and the makeup definitely isn't out of date.

I agree with Aurora, I only find products don't stick to an area unless I've been over exfoliating or have just shaved an area on my face.
