What do you think of this tattoo? Any idea of how much this would cost?

I'm an artist and it depends where you go. Someone could charge you by the hour (meaning time) or they can give you a flat out price. Keep in mind most shops have a minimum charge $$. Its looks to me it would probably cost around $40 to $60. Its pretty but what does it mean?

I live in California btw. Tatts are pretty expensive here.

It means "walk by faith, not by sight" and I live in Utah so the prices aren't too steep.

That's very beautiful. That would make a very nice tattoo. You should honestly just go in to a couple local shops and browse around. ask some of the artists for there portfolio or their work. Remember one thing if the shop doesn't look clean and the artist don't wanna tell you much then leave. You want friendly people who are willing to tell you everything about the shop and what they use. Is this your first tattoo?

Yes, it's gonna be my first, but there are a few that I want so I'm sure it won't be the last one.

40-60 dollars is VERY inexpensive for a tattoo. I live in toronto and that would probably cost anywhere from $140-$200 easily. I would faint if it were possible to get a tattoo for that amount if money here. Inexpensive isn't always good though. Find a good reputable artist.

Thanks for the advice!

40 to 60 underground is not inexpensive it right for that length. 140 to 200 sounds strange to me. here in Monterey most shops won't do little tatts because of the shop minimum.

here you have to get one for the shop min and then pay for another of your choosing. I have my bloodborne pathogens certification from a three year apprenticeship and what I was taught a good tattoo artist will charge what's necessary for good work. there are a lot of bad people out there that will take advantage of you.

I was told by tattooed friends when I was getting my first tat: ask the artist how they sterilize things, what their sanitation procedures are, and what their bandaging afterwards is. If they reuse needles, don't use an autoclave, or wrap it in saran/cling wrap RUN.

Sooo.. Should I not go to a place if they taped a paper towel to my friends wrist after his tattoo?

no listen read what Emily just said. suran wrap is the most sterile. if it feels or looks weird Run! lol.

Ohhh she made it seem like it was bad that they wrap it in saran wrap!

no its not it actually keeps more moisture in. that's needed for the healing processes. especially in color tattoos

What part of Utah do you live in? I know of a few places in salt lake that do really good work for a reasonable price :)

Good tattoos aren't cheap. Cheap tattoos aren't good

I got a piercing done at Anchor Ink in Salt Lake City, if you're near there (I went to Westminster and I was able to walk from campus, so it's near the Sugarhouse area). The shop is really clean and nice and the people who work there are super knowledgable and friendly. If you're in that part of Utah I'd recommend you check them out.

Thank you Christina lol and Courtney sounds like she has some pretty good info for you. I'd go check that place out if I were you.

I've gone to shops in Toronto that likely wouldn't charge more than $80 for it.

However why Arabic?
Why not just get it in English?
