I am writing on behalf of my friend. My friend washes her hair every day with Goldwell Kerasilk shampoo and Herbal Essence Morroccon My Shine. Her hair is curly/frizzy and is always crispy. Yes, Crispy! Crispy like a crunchy hard shell. her hair looks oily but her scalp is dry. What should she do.

Seems like your friend is drying her hair by washing it everyday and maybe using products that are not hydrating enough.

Curly hair is naturally dry, so if she dries it more it will become more frizzy and dull.

Tell her to wash her hair every 2 days and use a deep conditioner at least 1 time per week.

Note: Also take into consideration that if the weather where you live is cold/dry it will make the problem worse.

I agree, curly hair doesn't really need to be washed everyday. My hair is thick and wavy/curly and I only wash mine once a week if that.
Does she put any styling products on it? Sometimes those make hair feel "crunchy" or stiff.

Tell her to shampoo every 3 days, curly hair doesn't need so much washing

I have curly hair and I do not shampoo it everyday. I shampoo every 2 days but every day I use a good amount of conditioner. I also use a leave in conditioner.
I know that mousses and sprays make my hair very crispy and hard, so I refrain from using them. I use Moroccan Oil and I really like it but make sure you do not over do it.

I agree, washing hair every night strips it of any natural oils that are actually really good for your hair. Slowly lengthening the amount of time between washing her hair could be beneficial. Also, maybe doing a weekly hair mask will help, as well as using hair oils such as argan oil

Agree with everything! I have curly hair like Merida from the Brave movie or like Shirley Temple and I wash my hair once a week and I use coconut oil or olive oil on the ends and I refrain from using mousse or hair spray. I would advise your friend also to drink plenty of water and eat healthy fats...or she could even take a hair, skin and nails supplement.

I couldn't agree more with the other girls I had the same issue as your friend I would dye my hair blonde and then I go red then black at least twice a month plus I would wash my hair at least twice a day I started doing this two times a week then I started doing it only once every two weeks it saved my hair
Mix one egg white and one tablespoon each of olive oil and honey until you get a smooth paste. Apply this paste on damp hair and scalp. Cover your head with a shower cap for about 30 minutes. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo and cool water

Like every one else said, getting her to wash her hair every 2 days will make a big difference. Basically what's happening is she's stripping the natural oils her hair needs by washing everyday. Because she's not getting those oils and drying her hair out, her follicles are producing excess oils resulting in her hair looking oily.
