Just got an email a few days ago after responding to a post from a MAC recruiter seeking MUAs, I have a phone interview on the 3rd!!! I have two years experience in cosmetics (counter, sephora, and some freelance). Does anyone know what to expect? I'm guessing if the phone interview goes well I'll be scheduled a face-to-face interview, then from there the demo? I absolutely love MAC and it's where I knew I wanted to eventually end up in my career. Also, I've been second-guessing myself a lot, I DO have experience but am still young (I'm 20)...any advice would be appreciated!!!

Be confidant!!!! Go in of course humble, knowing you have a lot to learn from others, but they want to know you are confident in your work! And honestly they are probably more interested in your customer service and sales experience, so make sure to play that up! Good luck!!!

aNSWER THE QUSTIONS THOROUGHLY! be prepared to have examples of times when you dealt with a difficult customer, times when you went above and beyond to satisfy a customer, your favorite part of applying makeup. conflicts youve encontered in retail and most importantly make sure ou provide conflicts and solutions to each situation they present you. they will be assessing your retail skills at this phase, but if you get through it the next step is to work on your portfolio! Be prepared to answer the questions without stuttering or taking long pauses. The phone interview determines if they set up an in face interview so know your stuff!!!!!!!

edit** i know i sound cocky but im an interview recruiter who conducts most of my interviews via telephone and decide if inperson interviews should be scheduled or if youre not a good candidate, i know my stuff lol :)

I cant advise on this specific interview but I have general interview experience. When speaking be calm and even in tone. Take a deep breath before speaking to calm yourself. Have good examples ready of your experiences and when you have done a good job. Sound confident but not big headed. Always be sure to say that you want to learn more and that they are a good opportunity for that. Remember to always show your good points but remember to be aware of some of your faults. Good luck xxx

Ari W. is right on point!!! I deal with a lot of companies who often conduct phone interviews and if you can pass the phone interviewing then its smooth sailing from there. Be sure that when you take that call you're in a quiet room with no distractions. I find it absolutely annoying when I'm interviewing someone and I hear their dog in the background or some other crazy nonsense. Also make sure you're wearing a smile on your face because it translates in your voice as upbeat. Good luck on your interview beautiful!

just trust in God put Him first in your life & always be kind & do for others before yourself. Make ur needs known unto God & He will take care of you. God said to put ur trust in Him & He will exalt your needs.

Having worked for them before I can tell you that after you phone interview you will be scheduled for an audition or series of them. Be confident but not cocky & listen to exactly what they want you to execute. Pay attention to you blending & symmetry. Good luck! Once you get hired mind your manners - that company is full of mean girls and I've seen a lot of falsified customer comments aimed at getting artists fired! It's a good stepping stone for any artist to learn a lot in a short period of time tho!
