Hey ik this is late but I just came across it. I myself have your same issue. I've been searching for yearsss for the right foundation. Now I wouldn't wear foundation if I didn't beed it but I need it to make my face all one color. The issue is foundation makes my face look DISGUSTING. Very cakey, brings out my bumps even more and makes my skin look dry. I discovered that ANY type of liquid foundation is not good for skin like ours. Use powder foundation and use a big round brush to press it onto the skin. That's not all... moisturize your face with an OIL FREE moisturizer. Make sure it's blended all the way in and then go in with the powder. Powder will hide the bumps better. Personally I use Neutrogena Clear Pore face wash (helps unclog pores which may be an issue), then Garnier face moisturizing gel for only about $6, then a cheap Elf powder foundation in the color Ivory. A little of all these products go a long way. My skin looks smooth afterward. This is for my personal needs, you may need to play around a but until you find your perfect set of products but POWDER foundation and moisturizers are your best friends.
Tip: if you apply the powder and it looks cakey still I put a tiny smudge of petroleum jelly on my index finger and kinda mash it onto the ared that look dry and ridiculous and it helps smooth the skin. I know that was a lot and late, sorry lol. But best of luck!

I also had bumps in my forehead and the Algestist Multi perfector exfoliatpr made a huge improvement in my skin! I use it 3x per week before going to bed and then Moisturize with the Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

But I agree the coconut oil and baking soda is bad for you. Coconut oil only helps if you apply after your moisturizer has set in. And might be the cause of your bumps, since it is comedogenic.
But for oil cleansing I use a 1:2:1 ratio with Dior cleaning oil, maracuja oil (very moisturizing) and bosica's cleansing oil in the pink bottle. I do this twice and rinse throughly don't find it to give me acne, but if you're acne prone I'd follow up with a gentle acne cleanser. And I found applying a night cream that's thicker helps, just make sure to wear spf in the day. I use the origins ginseng one or the body shop seaweed night cream, but there's plenty that would work.

I get those too, but I started oil cleansing with a silicone scrubby thing from sephora and it went away. Also using stuff for dry skin. Like I love the Laura mercier hydrating primer. And the nars sheer glow foundation. I'm very red naturally, and it covers perfectly without needing to apply a bunch of layers. There's no more buildup of dry spots or any bumps when I apply foundation. I think it's really just trial and error though.

Stop with the baking soda! It is a good exfoliator (I use to do this) but overtime because of its ph levels it will damage your skin. I would stop with the coconut oil as well (another thing I used to use for my skin; I did the coconut oil for 2 years before I finally realized it wasn't working). Coconut oil is a sealant so its going to trap your skin and makes it feel hydrated when its actually just sitting on top of your skin and not seeping into your skin like you want a moisturizer to do. I had the same issue as you and switching my skincare helped more than anything. I highly recommend using a Clarisonic, its expensive but I've had mine for 3 years now and it is by far the best investment I've made for skincare. I can't believe how much money I wasted before on skin cleansers, exfoliators, spot treatment that didn't even work. Anyways I would try CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and Moisturizing Cream. As far as primer's go I think Hourglass might help you (you can buy at Sephora). I have the worst dry skin and the best primer I have used is L'Oreal Magic Lumi. I think changing up your skincare and primer would help out a lot. I also think switching powder's would help too. As far as foundations go I love Clinique Super Moisture, Clinique Even Better, MUFE HD, and Laura Mercier Silk Creme (I haven't tried that last one but it has great reviews for dry skin). I personally only use liquids for special occasions but for everyday looks I use powder foundations. Powder's are surprisingly great for dry skin (as long as you moisturize and prime) and I get more compliments on my foundation than I have with any other liquid. I use Merle Norman (only con is you have to go to their store to buy, so if you don't have one near you can't buy online) Mineral Foundation. I apply moisturizer, primer, concealer first then I use the powder and I get amazing coverage. Tarte's mineral foundation is great too and Philosophy has one too (you can get it at Ulta). I do not like Bare Mineral powders though... One last thing, for myself I have noticed that application makes a big difference for me. I personally hated the Beauty Blender brushes have just worked better. I use Sephora's Pro Airbrush #56 to apply my concealer and for my powder I use Elf's Kabuki Brush (black and white one; I've used other brushes to apply the powder foundation but Elf's has always gave me the best finish).

You shouldn't use baking soda on your face it can cause chemical burns.

I have really bumpy skin around my nose,on my nose and forehead and very dry skin, so my foundation always look cakey like I put 5 layers of it. I use a wet beauty blender. When I don't have any makeup, my face looks flawless. When I put makeup it gets so cakey. I use coconut oil and lush as a moisturizer. Lush,Coconut oil & Baking Soda as an exfoliator. I use Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, MAC Studio Fix Powder and Makeupforever HD translucent powder. I tried Makeupforever HD primer, Maybeline Baby Skin. I tried Esthee Lauder Double Wear, Makeupforver HD foundation, Kat Von D foundation, etc...I have red spots around my nose so I have to put foundation or councealer but it gets really cakey and on my forehead too so I can't wear only BB cream. I want to know if there's a primer/foundation/powder that will help this. Thank you!
