Practice, practice, practice! None of us were born with our skills, you learn them. And remember, if you have a passion for it, you WILL get good, just never give up :)

Maybe you should work with an actual MUA do that they can help you identify your weaknesses and work with you on them.

Practice, but make sure you do it on all different face types then you get the feel of what works with other people. I wasn't good at all when I first started either ! Also watch youtube videos you learn a lot

I agree with Rachael, youtube videos taught me so much because a lot of youtubers are MUAs, reading makeup books is also really helpful, try 'The Makeup Manual' by Bobbi Brown.
I am quite an artsy person, surrounding myself with different forms of art, whether it be photography or music, helps me get inspired.

Even though I went through beauty school and was a licensed cosmo, I sucked at putting make up on other people. I went through the Robert Jones Beauty Academy and learned soooo much! It's online and cheap, but definitely worth it!!

Watch tutorials and practice on a mom sister cousin friend. Or even a guy. Guys are a lot tougher to work on because it doesn't look as natural on then as it would a girl. Also try to work on people with different face shapes, skin colors, hair colors ,eye colors. Ect . Each little difference helps a lot more then you could imagine
