Hey there people! Well lately my skin has been dry and itchy, and my lotion hasn't been working well for me. Lately my lotion has felt really sticky on me and smells funny. In one of my books it says that if you apply baby oil right after you take a shower, its locks in moisture and makes your skin soft as a babys bottom. Is that true? If so, what are some good brands to use?

I have heard the same, but I dont use baby oil as the smell clashes with my perfume. I love to use Neutrogena light scented body oil. It works great alone. And I use it with Dove ultra moisturizing lotion.

I used to use baby oil all the time. After I shaved my legs I would put it on because it made it less dry and it didn't burn like cream does

Basically the key to making it last longer then lotion is to apply it (the oil) when you're still wet, like don't dry off when youre getting out, basically you put the oil on and rub it in, the water will act as a carrier and allow the oil to deeply penetrate into your skin thus lasting longer then lotion which doesn't really get absorbed into your skin as a long lasting solution to dryness. Then after you've rubbed it in enough for your liking to towel off and you're done :)
there's tons of stuff you could use, I like coconut oil, and I like body oils that come in a spray form because you don't really have to mess around with the bottle while your hands are oily (that just really bothers me). But victorias secret has some oils out, neutrogena has really nice oils, the body shop has some, etc. Hope this helped!

Baby oil comes from gasoline! It's very bad for you, especially in North America. I only suggest using it if your going to the Arctic and you want to lock in moisture. With that being said its bad for you because your body is unable to release sweat/toxins and natural oils. It's bad!

I use baby oil as a make remover. But after my skin feels gross from the oil and I just rinse it all off with water. It doesn't make my face break out. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the advice. Does anyone know any brands that are good?

Neutrogena makes some good ones and they even have an unscented one, you could try jojoba oil, or even vitamin e oil, like you don't have to even buy the oil.. just break open one of those gel caps (in vitamin form) because its the same oil.

I use it as a back up for make up remover when I'm caught with out my wipes, but not often though, as my skin is oily as it is. I'm pretty sure baby oil is fine :)

You should try olive oil or coconut oil...maybe vitamin E oil? In my unprofessional opinion I think Baby oil is not good at all

Of course baby oil is good for your skin, think how delicate and tender a baby's is and it's made for them =]

Fractionated coconut oil! Can be found at natural food stores, there is no smell, doesn't expire, does not stain skin or clothing. Great for massage oil. Hold moisture in the skin wonderfully.

@araceli except baby oil doesn't cause its made for babies who need the moisture due to diaper rashes and such. basically you can use it if youre super dry you may not need it everyday. seriously use some common sense if its approved for babies its fine for you too. I wouldnt use it on the face though.

I use johnson and johnson baby gel. I apply it after the shower. I use it to.reduce stretch marks. To minimize the smell, mix lotion or light perfume/body spray into.your skin.
