Although the menthol in vapor rub does have drying properties, it is in a petroleum base, meaning it acts as a seal an holds in any dirt or oils. Menthol on its own is much much too harsh. Personally, I clean the spot with a salicylic acid cleanser (salicylic works best for my skin, but some have better luck with other cleansers!) and then moisturize with aloe vera (it will not make you break out and has healing properties) and then dab a spot of 5% benzoyl peroxide cream on it for 45 minutes! This works well for me, and none of these things are complicated or expensive (:

Just get a spot treatment specifically for acne. Clean and clear make some good ones. Or Philosophy's if you're looking for a high end one

I've heard that putting Vapor Rub on a pimple will help it go away overnight is this true? and has anyone tried it??
