Tom Ford. REALLY? Let me first say, I LOVE his shadow quads and cream shadows...I expected these singles to be the creme de la creme, especially at this price point. Well they certainly are not. The packaging is cumbersome and difficult to open if you have even slight fingernails...beautiful to look at but it’s all fashion and no function. The suede shades are super sheer and dry, they apply patchy and wear off in a few short hours even with my favorite primer. The Paillette shades are chunky messes, full of fallout, no pigment (toppers I’m guessing...but even mediocre for that purpose). The Vinyl shades are *ok*, a bit more pigment and smoother than Suede or Paillette, but finicky to apply and don’t last no matter the primer used underneath. I even tried setting them with spray, they still fade quickly. I am so disappointed in these, I bought eight shades and all of mine got returned, they’re not worth the money at all.
This was my first ever TF purchase, and I was beyond excited to get this eyeshadow single. I’ve always had a notion in my head that everything TF is heavy, shiny packaging and a product inside that’ll stop your heart.
To say I was let down is the understatement of the year. I can only speak of the shade I purchased, but my drugstore eyeshadows preform better than this one. I am HEARTBROKEN. I will definitely be returning. I wanted this shadow to be soft, buttery, and ridiculously pigmented. It was hard, scratchy, and pretty much a very sheer silver shadow topper. It’s NOT a pigmented, opaque shadow to use all over the lid.
I am soooooooo bummed out.
And yes, I watched my favorite YouTuber on Snapchat scratch the entire top layer off this shadow, and it still was terrible
I love the Tom Ford quads, including the sparkling top-coat type finish that he includes in many of them. I actually think that formula is pretty unique, it allows you to add a light sparkle to a look or you can apply heavier and go full on metallic. I ordered three of the Pailette finish shades assuming they would be the same formula as the similar shades in the quads... however they are not. The Pailette finish has a much heavier feel & it is difficult to achieve a top coat effect from them, and I also found them lacking in the the sparkle factor. Over-all I am disappointed in the singles and do not think they are worth $38 for .04oz. That was the other thing that bothered me... you get much less product than the individual shades in the quads (1.2g single vs. 2.5g per shade in the quads).
I purchased several shades Loveshade, Agenda Rouge, Iris Bronze, Warm leatherette, Camera Obscura, Fire Sign, Tempete Bleue, & Violet Vinyl & Body Double. I really like the formula of all the shadows even though they have different finishes. My favorite so far is the Vinyl finish. The Pailette finish is also beautiful and is pretty to use on top of another shadow as a finishing touch.
high-quality powder, sure, but these shadows give a whole new meaning to the word DIMINUTIVE. they're sample-sized. I'll stick with my YSL and Dior mono shadows: same quality, same beautiful colors and finishes ... and ... amount of product differential: somewhere between 10 and 50-fold.
I love these shadows they are pigmented, buttery, and they blend flawlessly. Yes they are very small but I prefer this size and I find the matte shades to be even better then the Viseart matte eyeshadows. I purchased 26 of the Private Shadows.
I do love TF quads and the single colors I purchased are lovely but they are are a little patchy. The tiny packaging is beautiful!
I have several TF quads and cream/shadow combo pots, and I was disappointed with the lack of blue pigment once the shadow is layed on the eye, basically it was a light black shadow, with faint navy blue speckles. Also, it did not blend as easily as some of the other shadows in his line. On a positive note, there was very little fall out. I will probably just use this as a bottom liner.
