Beauty Product Reviews

excellent quality, lacks in inspiration

I got the Rose Edit just before leaving for Europe for a month - it was the only eyeshadow palette I brought with me, so I think I can give it a pretty thorough review :) The quality of the shadows was impeccable, they blend well and the pigmentation is great. Both the shimmers and mattes are very good, no complaints. I used UD primer potion underneath and my eye looks stayed vibrant all day until I took my makeup off at night. There is little to no fallout for this palette (I gently tap eyeshadow pans for color, I don't swipe), even if the shadow pans are small this will last you a long time. Mine looks barely touched and I used it every day for over a month!

I find that the palette does fall somewhat short in options for different looks. I personally prefer neutral/cool eyeshadow palettes which is why I didn't want the Warm Edit. The pinks in this palette are quite nice and the shimmery purple is amazing for a sparkly one-color evening look; but the browns are just way too peachy-warm and feel out of place with the pinks, especially since they already have a Warm Edit. The shimmer that looked pale gold in the pan is actually a warm copper, all the browns are very warm instead of being neutral so it's harder to integrate them with the pinks (color names are not indicated on the palette unfortunately) If this palette had neutral or cooler browns it would be 5 stars for me. I did end up regretting bringing this as my only eyeshadow palette, because of the lack of neutral shades for some versatility. The basic 3 options for looks are: pink (lighter or darker), peachy/copper/brown, and then the sparkly violet. With 12 colors I would have expected more of a variety of options. Also, the palette is missing a good non-sparkly brow bone shade.
