Beauty Product Reviews

Highly overrated! I have been using Ben Nye for years and was excited to hear reignited popularity over a product I had not tried. I purchased the banana and cameo powders specifically to set my under eye concealer, which is actually a combo of 3, one of which has always been a Ben Nye in blythe spirit. I used a sponge to press in the powder and brush to dust away excess. After 30 minutes this powder looks cakey and enhances creases the longer it is worn. After a full day I look 10 years older under the eyes. I will not be buying these again, but notice they do ok on my face lightly brushed on as long as I avoid the chin, undereye and forehead. I will stay with my makeup forever HD microfine powder for undereye concealer setting. These will go in with the other dept. store mistakes I save for Halloween.

Once this product sets, it does moisturize nor offer any coverage. Putting concealer over it causes it to roll up and cake. I got this as a sample with another Olay product. I would never purchase it, and only wear it around the house. I like most Olay products which is why this got more than 1 star.

This product looks very sheer for about an hour. a little sun or heat and it starts melting off. It gets really oily even on my combination over 40 skin. It is good for day wear as it looks light on the skin, but bring lots of blotters and powder if you expect this product to make it to the end of an 8 hour day. It is a decent product for the price and lasts forever because the fluid is so thin. Dry skin needs to be super hydrated, and this does not build well if you have imperfections.

I am over 40 and have combination skin. This foundation went on nicely but looked heavy in about half an hour. I settles into fine lines and actually seems to age the skin. It is buildable and photographs well as long as it is NOT HD or close up. I never wear it during the day for this reason, and feel it is a poor quality that does not measure up to the price. I have been happy with other products from this line.

I have oily skin and am in my 40s so getting a flawless finish can be tricky. This is a product I highly recommend if you want full coverage and don't mind a heavier feel on your face. It truly stays in place and true to color all day, and does not settle into fine lines or exaggerate pores; a common issue with aging skin and foundations. Well worth the price, and this photo snapped in natural light shows the foundation set with loose powder after a 9 hour day. the shade used was 2W1 Dawn 53.

I was overall disappointed with this product for several reasons, however, I did not give fewer stars because it may work for those with drier skin. I found this product extremely oily shortly after applying it. It seems to sit on top of the skin and melt off as the day wears on. you absolutely cannot use it under foundation or any other concealer. It gives a cakey appearance and wont blend properly. Trying powder to dim down the shine was also a disaster. I would only recommend this product to individuals who already have a flawless complexion but whose skin is very dry, and you don't love in a humid climate. If you wish to wear minimal cosmetics them you may enjoy this, as it works best alone. I did not return it only because I continue to experiment with it using multiple products in hopes I will find a compatible mix and not have angst toward such a long standing reputation, but this product simply does not measure up to the standard, nor the price.
