Actually really like this

I was so put off by this palette after all the negative response to it. However, I had it already and decided to try it anyways. The pigmentation at first is completely overwhelming. But if you go in light handed (tapping it in, not swirling) it's super easy to blend. These are basically pressed pigments and the are in fact softer shadows (same as modern renaissance) so a little goes a long ways. My first try was disastrous honestly. I did use a tacky base and it didn't want to blend. Next go round I set my base with translucent powder before using the shadows and these blended very nicely. If you love a good grungy look (hello 90's) and know the basics of color theory, this is a great palette. If you are blending the wrong colors together it will look muddy. This will happen with any shadows. Overall, I would buy this again.

A bit bummed

Disclaimer: I am incredibly picky with makeup quality. I won't give over 3 stars if it doesn't wow me. I have combo skin with eyelids that lean more on the oily side. I am not a makeup artist, just a well seasoned enthusiast.

I ordered honeymoon. On first glance it is absolutely beautiful. There are a lot of palettes with similar colors BUT these were a little different to me. They have this sheen that just captures you. I tried this with primer and no primer. Here's my take:

The good : they blended beautifully once I found a brush that would pick up enough product. The colors are drop dead gorgeous.

The bad: these seem super dry compared to a lot of formulas I've tried. It was hard to pick up product and I tried multiple brushes. (Blended nice once I could grab product).

The ugly: I ended up with little microglitters everywhere. With primer and without. Using the shades wet also accentuated my 30 something yr old eye texture. Actually was able to see texture I didn't know existed. Also wetting the shadows I STILL ended up with glitter on my face once it dried. Apparently I am doing something wrong.

Overall, I don't feel like this was worth the cost. I am a working mom that rarely gets a treat so buying this was a major splurge. And sadly I'm a bit disappointed. Next time I will definitely go for viseart as they have never let me down. I will continue to play with this in hopes that my mind will be changed.

Overhyped

First off the shade swallow arrived broken. However, beautylish has amazing customer service and took care of it.

Now the palette. First glance the colors are beautiful. Fingers swatches nice. Brush swatches are not very good. However that doesn't matter much as it is not the same as putting it on your eyelids.

The shimmer shades are a decent formula. Pretty well pigmented but had a fair amount of fallout. Sort of reminds me of his highlighters. The mattes on the other hand were a muddy mess. Just like my issue with beautykiller. No matter what look I tried it looked nasty when I was done. Most shades in this palette are very easily duped. I was actually able to dupe every single color in the pan except for military and fetish. I couldn't get an exact match for fetish but found a few that are very close. Overall, I don't feel like this palette is worth the price at all. There are many other brands with there overall better, consistent quality. I doubt I'll ever reach for this again. It really bothers me when brands are overhyped like this was.

Meh

I had extremely high hopes for this palette, considering the high price tag. The colors are definitely beautiful sitting in the palette. However, I don't feel like the color payoff is there in most of the shades. I struggled with the glitter shades the most. Even with a tacky base, I ended up with glitter all over my face. I also had trouble with colors blending without getting muddy and a bit of fallout. I am by no means a make up artist but I'm not a newbie either. I am pretty well skilled wth makeup. So this not working out for me was a struggle!

Another issue for me is the lack of originality. Yes the glitter formula is a bit different, but with the fall out of that I could use loose glitter with glitter glue for the same effect. Or get some pressed glitters off of Etsy. I feel like 90% of the colors can be easily duped.

For the high price tag, I don't think I should have to use these with certain brushes or certain ways to make it work. It should just work, imo. I honestly would return this but I've already had it for three months now. If I could do it over again I would have spent my money on some of the amazing up and coming indie brands that are out now.
