Beauty Product Reviews

Overall I’m very pleased with these lipsticks! I like this formula MUCH better than the lip ammunition. It doesn’t take many swipes to get the pigmentation I want and it feels good on my lips. Not sticky or drying at all but hard to describe. I would say it feels like a buttery matte going on and as the day progresses you forget it’s there. Transfer is minimal and it last quite a while! As always, Jeffree’s packaging is gorgeous! They really leveled up with the magnetic cap on the lipstick component, I love that feature! I would recommend watching some swatching videos on YouTube if you’re unsure how a particular shade would look on your skin tone. That helped me a lot with deciding what shades would be flattering. That’s one thing that JS Cosmetics could do better- they really should show these lipsticks swatched on different skin tones.

Jeffree Star has done it again and I'm loving the Alien palette so far. I've bought every JS palette and I swear he's perfected the formula! The shade range is different from most other palettes on the market right now and the color payoff has been unbelievable. Every matte I've tried has been pigmented and applied beautifully and the metallics are like actual butter. My favorites so far are "alien", the metallic green, "abduction", the matte chartreuse (I live for a chartreuse moment) and "probe", a duo chrome teal/reddish/brownish whatever shade. Actually now that I'm looking at the palette I have five other favorites but won't bore anyone with that. The ONLY nitpick I have is the packaging. I just don't love it... I feel terrible saying it but it's true. It's an awkward size and shape and doesn't fit well in my makeup travel bag, which is pretty big and can handle a lot. I do like the shiny chrome background that the shadow pans are on. I am considering buying a second so I can depot this one into a more manageable palette but still have a "collectors" one . I did this with Blood Sugar and felt like an absolute monster destroying it but it's worked out much better for me and I use it a lot more now that it travels well. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me? I almost took a star off for it but that's dumb and petty. The actual product is awesome and I highly recommend giving it a try!

Unsure...

I'm really on the fence with this product! First off, it's not a skin tint whatsoever. This is a medium to full coverage foundation. It's also a bit unpredictable. Some days it sits beautifully on my skin and I'm in love with it and other days it doesn't seem to want to cooperate at all, meaning it looks patchy in spots and doesn't blend right. I'm still trying to figure out the right primer and brush combo for this. Super moisturizing primers like Bobbi Brown's Face Base seem to be the best option. It's quite thick so lately I've been mixing it with other foundations that are more on the liquid side and that seems to work well. For $56 I wanted it to work on it's own without a lot of messing around so that's been disappointing. But because it does look beautiful when I get it right I'm not ready to give up just yet.

Relieved..

I was so excited when I saw Jeffree was coming out with lip liners! When I finally went to order mine I saw that a lot of the reviews here weren't positive and I became a bit apprehensive. I decided to just order one and see how it worked. I ordered "Scorpio" since I don't have any other lip liners in that particular shade. I'm happy to report that mine worked perfectly. I applied it over a thin layer of chapstick (I was too lazy to dig around for my lip primer). Since many reviewers commented on the softness of the pencil I made sure to use a gentle hand. I wanted to try it on it's own before pairing it with a lipstick so I just spread it evenly all over my lips. I've had it on for a few hours and it hasn't budged. It's not clumping or doing anything weird. Just sittin' there looking lovely. I wonder if there was a bad batch?? Mine doesn't seem excessively soft either, I have to use a lot of pressure to smush the tip. They're definitely softer than MAC lip liners but I would have to push a lot harder than I normally do to break the tip off during application. I'll be ordering more based on this experience.

I’m thirsty!

When Jeffree first revealed this palette I’ll admit I wasn’t blown away. Blood Sugar was a hard act to follow and the color scheme of this one just didn’t speak to me in the same way. But it’s summer and I’ve always like his products so I purchased it anyway. Thankfully, I’ve been very happy with this palette! The formulation of these mattes has surpassed all of his brands previous palettes. The metallic shades are so buttery and look amazing on my lids. The exception is “Lick” which is a beautiful yellow/amber color but seems harder and less pigmented than the other metallic/glitter shades. The consistency reminds me of the Regina George highlighter. It still works but requires a bit of effort in comparison to the others. If you’re on the fence I’d recommend taking the plunge. This works as a great everyday palette but can also be used for wilder looks as well.

So gorgeous

I've had the liquid lip version of "Unicorn Blood" for a while now and while I loved the color when swatched I've always struggled to get it to apply smooth and streak free. For me, dark or red liquid lipsticks are tricky to apply so this is a reflection of my own amateur abilities, not the product itself. On a whim, I bought the lip ammunition version and whoa nellie! It's everything I wanted the liquid lip one to be. It's the most beautiful red/burgandy/plum shade of lipstick I've ever owned and I want to wear it every day! I love the finish, which is like a satin/matte hybrid. I need a lip liner for any darker lip shade and I found that MAC's "Brick" lip pencil works well with "Unicorn Blood". I'm definitely thrilled with this purchase and I hope Jeffree comes out with more lip ammunition shades!

Pure Love...

(Full disclosure, red has always been a favorite eyeshadow choice of mine so this review is going to be completely biased). I can’t stop staring at this palette, I just love the shade selection sooo much! At first glance it may appear to be completely unusable for a daytime look but IMO a majority of the shades are neutral. This palette has about five colors that work extremely well as transition shades in the crease. Usually you’re lucky to get one in a palette. Most of the pans are matte but there are two shimmery ones that work well as a brow highlight or all over the lid and a couple other shimmer/metallic ones. As far as performance, so far I've had no issues. Jeffree mentioned in his launch video for Blood Sugar that swatches are not a reliable way to judge how a shadow will work when applied with brushes. This palette swatches much like Androgyny did, streaky and weird but with brushes it blends like a dream! The case is a true collectors item, totally gorgeous! I've been buying and collecting palettes for a decade now and I've never seen anything like Blood Sugar. The box and clasps make it more difficult to open than your average palette but not a big deal considering how cool it looks and feels. And did I mention red is my favorite eye shadow shade ever? 100% recommended

I love both of these primers and the under eye concealer. Prior to buying this set I hadn’t found a concealer that worked for me. This one is perfect! I just pat a small amount under my eyes after moisturizing and the coverage is perfect - no cakiness and it doesn’t settle into my fine lines. For $25 this is a great deal!

Sparkly!

I've been wanting to try this brand for a while but the price has been a bit of a turn off (plus I have a million glosses already). Their holiday collections are the perfect opportunity to try Jouer without spending a fortune. My first impression was that these glosses are very comfortable. When I'm wearing them I don't feel like anything other than chapstick is on my lips which is good because I can't stand a sticky gloss. They are intended to be used as toppers for your lipstick but I've been using them on their own as well. Just be aware that they're SUPER glittery so if that's not your thing you probably won't like them. For me though, they're a 5/5.

Disappointing

Based on all the reviews here this will be an unpopular opinion but I want to share it anyway. After reading all the glowing reviews for this palette and waiting for the restock I was so excited when mine finally came. First off, this isn't my first Natasha Denona purchase. I already own her Star palette and Lila palette, both of which I enjoy. I've had my eye on this one for ages but it was out of stock for a long time. Visually, the palette is stunning! When I swatched the eyeshadow pans on my arms they looked beautiful and pigmented. That's why the performance of the palette is so confusing and disappointing. The biggest issue is with the matte shades and how they blend. Generally I will start out with the transition and then blend slightly darker shades to my crease. All the brown and orange matte shades seem to disappear into each other, leaving me with an orange mess. And the fallout is epic. I always do foundation last just in case there's some fallout but this was over the top. And although the glitter and satin/metallic shades were absolutely gorgeous they also weren't very user friendly. They worked best with some MAC fix + or applied with a finger. Glitter glue is a must. I used the palette about 5-6 times and couldn't ever get a look that I loved. They all looked messy and over blended. I'm certainly no makeup artist but I've been applying eyeshadow for well over a decade now and have never had issues like this. (Yes, I applied an eyeshadow base). Believe me, I tried very hard to love this palette but at the end of the day, for the money I spent, I just couldn't justify keeping this so it got shipped back yesterday :( I'm glad so many people loved this but it just wasn't for me.
