Beauty Product Reviews

Leaves my hair silky soft

This is the perfect shampoo for my fine, thin, damaged hair. It cleanses my roots without stripping my ends, and the smell is divine. The smell alone made me fall in love. I used to be very loyal to the Redken color saver shampoos and conditioners (in the red bottles) but switched to this when my hair became too damaged from bleaching and I needed something more nourishing. An excellent product.

My HG, literally-saved-my-hair product!

My hair is deep brown, nearly black, with bleached ombre. I've been using this product for my damaged ends for years. It makes my hair silky soft, shiny, and strong. I use it on my damp hair after washing, before I comb. My hair has absolutely NO elasticity when wet. None. It literally just snaps. And, as its name implies, this product prevents that. It doesn't leave any kind of residue on my hair, no weighed-down feeling. My hair feels light as air and like silk after it dries (I also like to use it before heat styling).

My hair is very thin and very fine, with slightly oily roots and I wash my hair about 2 to 3 times a week.

The only BB cream I've ever liked

American BB creams are NOT proper BB creams: they're dreadful, poorly made tinted moisturizer. I love Asian BB creams but could never find any pale enough for my skin (MAC NW10 is too dark for me). This cream, in shade 13, is perfect. It has fantastic coverage: rich and creamy, spreads quickly and easily with the fingers, covers blemishes/ redness/discoloration well, and lasts all day while giving me wonderful SPF protection. It's the perfect thing to just slap on for an off-day, to get out the door quickly and still look pretty. If I want to look extra polished I top it with MAC MSFN in Light and a tiny bit of blush.

The only negative to this product is its smell. It has an extremely heavy, perfumed fragrance that actually makes me nauseous. It's horrendous and it tends to linger for an hour or so after I apply. But I love the product so much that I've learned to overlook it. In short, this cream is HG status for me and I've had multiple compliments on my skin while wearing it.

EDIT TO ADD: I have dry-to-combination skin with occasional breakouts and a lot of post-acne hyperpigmentation.

My perfect eye MU remover

What else can I say that hasn't already been said? It's incredibly moisturizing and lush, and takes off every trace of eye makeup gently and without scrubbing. And the smell is incredibly soothing, almost like liquid baby powder or that lavender baby lotion. It leaves my delicate eye area soft and soothed at the end of the day.

My everyday secret to glowing skin

I use this product every single day. I mix 2 or 3 drops into my NARS Sheer Glow foundation to give some extra luminosity to the skin. If I'm hanging out at home or just running on a quick errand, I'll spread a few drops of this over my face, pop some concealer around my nose and any other red areas, and go. Sometimes I'll also dab this along my brow bones and the tear duct to highlight my finished look.

It's quite different from traditional highlighter. It's a very thin consistency and doesn't "sparkle" once on the face. Rather, it's intended to give a subtle and diffuse luminescence to the skin. I always give it a good shake before dispensing as it's very watery. And while it is a bit pricey (I think my tube was about $37 US), it's lasted me a long time because I'm not heavy-handed with it. I'm a NW10 in MAC and this is the perfect product for my skintone.

My desert island product

Literally, if I could only possess one makeup product for the rest of my life this would be it. I use it over liquid foundation: it sets it, it blurs harsh lines, it gives me a subtle and diffuse glow that I have never before in my life had with a powder. I also use it by itself on "bare" days, and the results are flawless. Since I started using it strangers have been stopping me and asking what I put on my skin! I would have to commit suicide if this ever left the market. For realz.
