Because people twist the meaning of valentine's day. Everyone thinks they need a boyfriend or girlfriend on valentine's day but that's not true. Valentine's day is from single people to grow some balls and give a gift or tell a person they have been crushing on for a while. Plus if I was in a relationship, I still wouldn't like valentine's day.

Actually, Valentine's Day originated from the Romans! (like practically everything else) It was the celebration of sex and fertility! They started the day with an animal sacrifice and whipped women with the hide in hopes they would become child-bearing. Then, years later, a Pope took the day over and said, "enough of this sacrilege, I'm dedicating this day to a saint!" So he dedicated it to St. Valentine, and we all know that story.
