first time swirl nails

Tis is my first go at the swirl. It wasn't easy. I licked out by choosing a couple shades that float on the surface and don't sink to the bottom. I read a few tutorials that helped as well. It want easy, since the actual swirling with a toothpick made the polish clump more than create shapes on the water. I wonder if coating the stuck with cuticle oil or Vaseline would help. Ideally, I'd do each nail at a time, with a new "batch" of polish drops. All in all nice but I feel it needs improvement...
