Red/Black

This is my friend Ashley. I've done this style on myself before and I thought I'd share how I do it. Now, granted, when I did it on myself, my hair was already blonde. Her hair started out as a lightish brown that was a result of faded black color.
**Splat Hair Color was used for the red and bleaching.

1: First I parted her hair the way she wanted, and tied the bottom part up with a hair tie. Clips would help too. Then I used the pre-lightening bleach that came with the coloring kit, mixed with some conditioner, and bleached the top part of the hair. Let it sit for 25 minutes. After rinsing, I put more conditioner in her hair and left it in, and blow-dried it.

2: I then tied up the top part of the hair with the hair tie from the bottom part, and applied the black color to that section only. I also mixed conditioner into the bottle. After rinsing I put more conditioner into her wet hair and blow dried it for this section as well.

3: Finally, I applied the red to the top section very generously. Since it was a small bottle I tied up the bottom section as a guideline so to not waste the color. However, it's not necessary since it won't show over black hair.
