Happy Earth Day! Six Earth-Friendly Products We Love

It’s Earth Day, the perfect time to support brands that are good for your skin and the environment. To help you celebrate, we rounded up some of our favorite green goodies for skin, hair, and beyond!

Caudalíe Premier Cru la Crème
We’re obsessed with the luxurious texture and light, fruity scent of this moisturizer and eye cream duo. The wrinkle-busting concoction is chock-full of good-for-you ingredients, like the brand’s signature patents of resveratrol-oleyl (for lifting and firming), viniferine (for brightening), and grape-seed polyphenols, which are rich in antioxidants. The icing on the cake is that the packaging is recyclable, and Caudalíe donates 1% of all proceeds to environmental groups.

Lush Blousey Shampoo
As brands go, Lush has always stood out for its earth-friendly policies (not to mention its strict boycott policy regarding suppliers who test on animals). The company skips packaging altogether for many popular items including body butters in solid form and Bath Bombs—and for the rest, pots and bottles are made from BPA-free, 100% post-consumer recycled plastic. This super-moisturizing shampoo couldn't be more luxe. It gets hair clean and leaves it smelling like the good stuff inside: cocoa and cupuacu butters and mashed, fresh bananas.

Alba Botanica Good & Clean Toxin Release Scrub
With earth-friendly ingredients and a cruelty-free philosophy, this natural, 100% vegetarian brand is a health food store staple. Alba Botanica’s exfoliating scrub detoxifies and cleans out impurities, and the granules are gentle rather than scratchy. With fruit acid enzymes, the scrub leaves our skin smooth and glowing. It’s the perfect shower companion. Try it before self-tanning!

Tarte Glamazon Pure Perfection Lipstick
Remember how the average woman eats 4–9 lbs of lipstick during her lifetime? (And if you’re anything like us, it’s probably more like 12—ick!). Knowing that, it’s always a good idea to pick a formula that’s a little more natural. We’re fans of Tarte’s super-pigmented, long-wearing lipstick for its cushy feel and 10 vibrant colors—and also because it’s free of parabens and sulfates. Inside, there’s also mango, avocado, Amazonian clay for staying power, and shea butter for hydration. Our favorite is Foxy, a punchy fuschia. The patterned wood tube makes the product feel really special, too.

Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream, Limited Edition Label Art series
Kiehl’s has partnered with actor Zachary Quinto (pictured) and musician Alanis Morissette to design funky, limited edition labels for its cult classic Ultra Facial Cream. For the month of April, 100% of all proceeds from the product benefit Recycle Across America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to standardizing labels for recycling bins across the country. The classic face cream’s balancing moisture is renowned because it works on all skin types—and now, it’s also a great way to give back to the earth. Now that’s beautiful.

Origins Limited Edition Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
Origins wants to make things grow. The environmentally conscious brand has partnered with American Forests’ Global ReLeaf™, a program aiming to improve the environment by planting and caring for trees. Origins will plant a tree for each limited edition product purchased during Earth Day week, April 21–28. Our pick for combination-to-oily skin is the limited edition Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask. Prep your pores by first applying a warm, damp towel. Then layer on the product and let the active charcoal inside get to work—drawing out impurities and clearing out pores. Once it dries, rinse thoroughly to reveal enjoy a clearer, more smooth complexion.
