Which Bright Lip Is Best For You?

Bright lips were rampant on the runway this season, popping up in shows like Jil Sander, Fendi and Diane von Furstenburg. But how do you choose which shade is right for you? If you're a woman of color, here's a previous Beauty post about picking your perfect bold lip: "Bright Lips For Women Of Color." We take a look at the most popular brights; pink, orange and red on celebrities that rocked them and show you which tone is best for your skin color. Because nothing beats a bright lip for a burst of summer color!

 1 Pink

A neon bright pink can seem like a daunting color, but it actually works beautifully with cooler toned pale to medium complexions and lighter hair as opposed to a deep tan.

Here, Gwen Stefani's cheeks are lightly bronzed, and her dark smoky eye plays off against her matte pink lip.

Beautylish recommends: Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Carthage.

2 Orange

A matte orange is best suited to warmer skin tones or those with a natural tan. The orange hue brings out the warmer tones in the skin, which Miranda Kerr has highlighted with a slight sweep of coral blush on the apples of her cheeks. Keep the focus on your lips with simple eye makeup. Just a sweep of mascara and eyeliner is all you need.

Beautylish recommends: Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Coral.

3 Red

Red lipstick works on all skin tones, but this deeper shade with a blue undertone is best suited to pale complexions, especially if you have dark hair. The shade plays off the blue undertones of the skin without looking too brash. The trick as seen here on Rose Byrne is to wear little to no blush.

Beautylish recommends: Elizabeth Arden Effects Lipstick in Poppy Cream.
