How To Remove a Fake Spray Tan

Self-tanner will give you a great faux glow, (and in recent headlines, when not inhaled!) but what happens when it starts to fade, leaving your skin patchy and flaky? Rather than turn to more chemicals, opt for natural, DIY fake-tanning removal methods. We spoke to tanning maestro, St. Tropez skin finishing expert Sophie Evans, and discovered some easy DIY solutions that will eliminate all traces of your fake bake. And the best part? Every ingredient can be found in your kitchen!

SUGAR & LEMON

Mix together one cup of raw sugar and ¾ cup of lemon juice. Using raw sugar is essential as the rough granules scrub away the tan. Rub the mixture over your skin and leave it to sit for a few minutes. After, rinse off with warm water.

BICARBONATE OF SODA & LEMON

Mix half a cup of bicarbonate of soda (not to be confused with baking powder) with half a cup of lemon juice until a smooth paste forms. Apply to your skin and allow it to sit for a few minutes before wiping off with a cleansing cloth. You may have to repeat this process a few times, but it works!

HAIR REMOVAL CREAM

Want a quick way to remove your glow? Hair removal cream and waxing will instantly strip your skin of your tan, so if you make a mistake, immediately spray a little of the hair removal cream onto the area and wipe off!
