Yumi R.'s (yumirae) Beauty Product Reviews
Incredible!
For pale ladies like myself who love NARS Siberia colour and have a hard time finding their colour match you NEED to check this stuff out! You can mix it with your moisturizer to make a tint or (what I do) apply immediately after your moisturizer before it has completely dried. It gives such a natural finish to the skin and like it says helps tone down redness. If you have a lot to cover up you will need a separate concealer but to give an overall even look to your skin this is such a great bargain! It's only $16 CAD for .07oz and is an excellent alternative to NARS Sheer Glow/Matte in Siberia.
Depending on what moisturizer you pair it with will determine the finish. I've been using it over Kiehls Ultra Facial moisturizer which is quite light and I get a satin finish, almost matte look to my face. I always dust with a bit of loose powder but if you don't have super oily skin it's not necessary.
Holy Grail
I've been using this for years! I spray it on my face right before I apply any liquid or cream foundation to help it apply smoother and give more of a natural look. It works to diminish any cakeyness if you spray it on after your makeup too. A must have for me all year round but especially during the colder months.
Awful
I bought this more for colour correcting than primer - in hopes it would help brighten up my complexion. And it did BUT I couldn't get over the horrible pungent SMELL of this...like nail polish remover in my opinion. I should mention that I get migraines and am more sensitive to fragrance than other people though. In fact I ended up giving it to my friend and she didn't think it smelled bad at all. Anyway, it works to brighten up your face and smooth the surface of your skin and so it's great in terms of prepping your face before foundation it works. But I don't think something at this price point should be so highly fragranced and possibly irritating to sensitive skins.
Makes my skin glow!
I love this at home peel. I have sensitive acne prone skin and this does not irritate it at all. However I should mention that I originally bought the original one not specifically for sensitive skin and it BURNED. This is a nice exfoliant to use on sensitive skins, especially if you had red spots leftover from acne. It won't make them disappear right away but you will notice them fade dramatically. I like that this tightens my pores and helps heal breakouts quicker as well. I've been using this for years and gone through many of these! One tub lasts me a year and I use this once a week or every other week.
Great moisturizer for the winter time!
This is a heavy cream moisturizer best for dry skin types in the winter time. If your skin is more on the oily/normal side you don't need a product like this. It took a few uses before I realized it's too thick of a cream to just take from the container and apply straight to your face - you need to warm it up between your hands then lightly press into your skin and massage. As long as you don't use too much of this you won't be left with a sticky feeling like some heavy creams can leave. I don't notice a "glow" effect like it states but any dryness or tightness my skin feels is relieved and gone by the morning. I have combination/dry skin that is acne prone and I'm happy to say this causes no breakouts! It's a good substitute for my favourite cream Laura Mercier's Repair Creme as it is 1/3 of the price! If you are familiar with the typical Aveda herbal smells this has a light scent to it but is not overpowering in any way.
Not for acne prone skin!
Yikes. I don't even know what to say here. Maybe I was allergic to an ingredient in this but it broke me out like I haven't experience in a long time. Not only that but my face tone started to get uneven and ruddy. As soon as I stopped using it my skin went back to being clear. This might work for more mature skin tones but I won't be trying it again anytime soon.
Skincare staple!
I have an Australian friend at work and she got me hooked on this ointment. It smells really lovely and has so many uses! You can use it as a lip balm, hand cream, in place of something like Polysporin if you have a cut. It feels oily at first but absorbs into skin quickly and doesn't leave you feeling greasy. I only wish it was something easily found in Canada. There really is no other product quite like it. I would compare it to Egyptian Magic but better, especially since it comes in a tube version which is more hygenic than a pot. Love it!
The BEST moisturizer for dry skin
I found out about this last winter when my skin was so dry and hard to manage. Nothing I used was enough moisture for my face. I had a hard time wearing makeup because my skin was so dry and flaky. I tried Egyptian Magic and while it improved my skin a LOT and I love that product, it was too greasy to wear on my face at night. So I went to the Laura Mercier counter at a nearby Holts because the girl who works there always recommends the best products suited to me and I liked her non pushy approach. The next morning after my first night of using this I couldn't believe my eyes. I was left with dewy, supple skin and my makeup applied like a dream. I've never had results from a product that quickly ever! It is pricey but if you've dealt with dry skin in the winter and know how uncomfortable and frustrating it can be to find something that works, you need to try this!
