Here's a review of some of my favorite drugstore mascaras, and a couple that I don't like so much :P I didn't have a lot of time to go really in depth with each mascara, so if anyone wants a more detailed review of a specific one, just let me know! :)
Transcript: Favorite Drugstore Mascara Reviews by Liana
Hey Guys. Today's video is just going to be an overview of my favorite drugstore mascaras, so let's get started. I'm going to go with one of my favorite mascaras which I haven't opened yet but this is the Loreal Voluminous Masacara and it actually, this is a backup because I already have a bunch of mascaras open, but this one came with an eyeliner which is really nice because it was like a two-for-one deal. But this is one of my favorite mascaras if not my favorite drugstore mascara. It just makes my lashes, like, really thick and it lengthens pretty well too and it just, overall it just makes my lashes look really nice so I highly recommend this one.
And another one which I really like is the CoverGirl LashBlast. This is the LashBlast Fusion and I like this one too. I'd say they're kind of the same actually, like, formula wise they're pretty much the same. This one might lengthen a little bit more. And I like these ones too. They're kind of hard to grip because they're so wide and the brush is a little hard to get used to because it's so thick. It's really thick, and like the bristles are really tiny. But the formula is really nice, like, it doesn't clump at all and you can layer and layer and layer and you won't get any clumps. So I really like this too.
So those are probably two of my favorite ones. Another one I really like is this Maybelline Extensions one. On one side is the mascara and on the other side is a primer, and the primer side sucks; it doesn't do anything at all so I don't use it. But this side works really good. I like the formula, it lengthens my lashes a lot, and it thickens also a little bit but this is really good for length. I have really short thin Asian lashes and this actually really helps them look longer, so I really like that one too.
Another one that I recently discovered is Loreal's Telescopic. This one is weird. The wand is like, super flimsy. It's kind of like, plasticky and bendy and it has really tiny bristles kind of like a comb, but I really like this one too. It's really fun to apply; I don't know why. This one lengthens really well. It doesn't really thicken that much but it definitely lengthens and this one works the same as the CoverGirl one where you can just layer on like tons of layers and it doesn't clump or anything and it just defines them really well. So I really like this one, I'm glad I tried this one.
Another one by Loreal: I think Loreal's actually probably the one that makes the best mascaras honestly. So this is another one by Loreal and this is the Extra Volume Collagen Mascara, and I love the packaging. It just looks kind of sleek, and kind of high-end. The brush is a little big, and honestly the brush isn't really that good. It's kind of clumpy and it has a lot of product on it and stuff, but the formula itself is really nice. Like, it really thickens lashes a lot, and it does lengthen too a little bit. But it's just a really dark black mascara and I really like this one. If you are new to drugstore mascaras I would definitely recommend Loreal. I think they make the best ones.
I recently discovered Rimmel and I've never really used Rimmel products but I've been trying their mascara and I actually really like them. This is their lash extender, their lash extender mascara and just wand. This one actually is kind of similar too this one. This one lengthens just as well and this one might actually give a little bit more volume than the other one, but I really like this one for lengthening. And this one doesn't clump as well, so yeah, I really like this one.
And another one by Rimmel is this Volume Flash, and I love the packaging. It's so cute. It's pink and gold. But this one is weird. Not weird, it's really light, like, you can tell it doesn't weigh anything. But this one, the brush is a little weird too. It's like really fat and it's kind of like this brush on this one. They're just both just kind of fat and, I don't know, they just have a lot of product on them when you pull them out. But I like the formula; the formula is pretty good. It says it's supposed to thicken like 14 times or something--the amount. I don't know if that's true because it doesn't seem to work that well, but it does do a good job. You know, it's decent, but I just like the packaging. That's why I got it. I'm a sucker for pink.
And so another one that's supposed to be thickening is the Colossal one by Maybelline. This one's OK. It's not really my favorite and it has a big brush too; a big fat brush. And this one doesn't seem to work as well as the other thickening ones. It's a little more wet I think and it just doesn't seem to, like, hold as well as the other ones. Plus it has a really strong smell. I think it's rose or something. It's just really strong and kind of makes me sick when I try it on; when I wear it. So I don't really stick with this one that much but I have heard a lot of other people like it so it's worth trying out; it's not horrible. It's just not one of my favorites.
Another one that I have, this one isn't actually available in the United States that I know of, and if it is you can probably only find it in Asian drugstores or grocery stores but it's called Fairy Drops Mascara. Oh, it matches my nails. But this one I really like. It's got like a really cool wand. It's like all wavy and stuff and this one actually lengthens and thickens and actually holds the curl. When I curl my eyelashes this one actually holds it.
The only problem with this one that I've found is that it makes your lashes really stiff; like hairspray stiff. That's the only thing I don't really like about it is, just my eyelashes really feel like really heavy kind of, and thick. But it does such a good job of like holding curl that, you know, I really like it for that. If you can get hold of this definitely try it because if you have Asian lashes, you'll know what I'm talking about. Your lashes will not stay curled and with this mascara they do. I mean better than without it, so this is definitely worth trying to find if you can.
And then last but not least is, I don't know how many of you guys have heard of Hard Candy makeup? They sell it at Wal-Mart and I really like their makeup. It's got really great packaging and it's affordable and I'll do a full review of that later but I've tried their mascaras and their liquid eyeliners and they just suck. [laughs] They just suck. This is the third one I've tried of their mascara. It's the Lash Call, it's the lengthening one and I love the packaging and the wand is like really long, thick, it's spirally looking. I don't know if you can see that but they just suck; they don't do anything for me at all. They're really watery and like wet and they don't stick to my lashes at all and they don't thicken or lengthen or anything. They just don't do anything and the same with their liquid liner that I tried. I think it's called Walk the Line or something. That didn't do anything as well, it just would not. I would apply it and it just looked runny and watery and it wouldn't stick to my eyes at all so I'm really disappointed in these ones. And all their mascaras actually because I've tried all of them so far, which is really sad because they're super cute packaging.
I would definitely recommend the Voluminous and the Extra Volume one, both of these, work really good for volume. And for lengthening I would really recommend these three: The Maybelline XXL Extensions; the Loreal Telescopic; and the Rimmel Lash Extender. Those are my favorites right now. I'm still trying out everything else because, I don't know, lately I've been into mascaras like a lot. I even have a couple of backups but I can't open them yet because I have too many open right now.
Definitely check those out and thanks for watching this review and I will talk to you guys later. Bye.
