Aaliyah "Rock The Boat" Music Video Inspired Makeup

Hey what's up everyone? I did two looks from Aaliyah's Rock the Boat music video. I love Aaliyah so much, rest in peace. This is my second video for an Aaliyah inspired look. The first one I did was More Than a Woman, so go ahead and check that out.

What I did here was two looks from Rock the Boat because they were very similar to each other eye wise. The only difference is the lips. Let me show you guys the transition and what scenes I took the look from. Right now is part two, so I'm showing you guys like a little sneak peak before the first look. If you want to learn how I did, this then stay tuned.

Right now I have moisturizer and I used MAC's Studio Moisture cream. I used my primer, my Dr. Brandt's Pore No More. I used this before foundation, after moisturizer, and before foundation, people have been asking about that. That's to prep my face for my foundation. I'm using my Make Up Forever HD that I don't use daily but I like to use it for like when I do tutorials because it looks better than just powder foundation that I use every day. I'm shade 153. Then I set my foundation with powder. I use my MAC MSF in Medium Plus. My eyebrows and then I primed my eyes with Painterly Paint Pot. That is my all time favorite eye primer.

Let's get started with the eyes. She has a gold color on her lid so I'm going to go in with MAC's Rubenesque Paint Pot, which is a nice gold. You could use a brush if you want. I'm just going to put this on my lids. I'm going to take a flat brush, Sigma's 252, and MAC's Melon pigment, which is a nice gold. I'm going to put this Melon pigment on my lid. Let's make this our tear duct color also. After we have that I'm going to use a blendy brush, MAC's, not MAC's, Sigma's 224 and I'm just going to blend out the lines.

Now I'm going to take Soft Brown by MAC and actually, since I don't have Rule, if you have Rule by MAC, the eye shadow use that, but lightly. But I'm going to mix my Orange and my Soft Brown together to kind of have the same color that she does. We're going to blend this in our crease with a 217 brush by MAC. I'm just putting it on the side, I mean at the end of my eye. I'm going to blend it upwards and do the same on the other side. It should look like that so far. I'm going to take a Michael Todd eye shadow in Chick. That's a matte right there, this is a Coastal Scents brush, just anything for your highlight. I'm not going to put too much.

Now moving on to the eyeliner, her eyeliner's not super dramatic, I'm going to go in with a pencil. This is MAC's Engraved, super new, straight out the box, that I just bought just like two weeks ago. It's just a liner but I like how creamy it is and I like that it's waterproof. I'm going to get as close to the lash line as possible because this eyeliner is not dramatic at all. It just defines her eyes.

I'm just going to line my water line, it's really light on her. Aaliyah has a really slim face and I don't, I'm going to go in with a bronzer, kind of contour really quick. I'm using Hoola's Benefit bron-, or Hoola's Benefit. Benefit's Hoola bronzer with an angled brush this is by Sigma and just gives my face more definition. Like I always do in like every video. When we're done with that I'm going to go in with a Bronze blush by Bare Escentuals and it's called Bronze. I'm going to kind of go over where I contoured. This is shimmery; just add more of a bronzing look.

Then I'm going to take Warm Radiance and put this where I would put my blush because she doesn't have like a really noticeable blush color, she's just very bronze. Before we finish up with the lips I like hella forgot about the eyes so I'm going to go ahead and put on my mascara. I'm going to use my Benefit BADgal Lash. To wrap up the first look I'm going to mix MAC's Melon pigment with gloss for my lips. First as a kind of base, I guess you could call it; I'm going to use MAC's Peachstock. I'm not totally sure how people mix gloss and pigments. I haven't washed any videos on this before so I'm just going to do it my way. So this MAC's gloss, lip gloss not the gloss texture and I'm going to put some on my lips. Then I'm going to take some of the Melon pigment just with my hands, taking it off the cap and I'm going to put this on. There we go for our first look. This is when she's on the beach. See, here's the full number one look.

So let's go on to the red lips. Her eyes are pretty much the same. I know you can't really see it because she's wearing the hat to kind of cover her eyes. But I know that she's not wearing a lot of blush just like the first look or this look I mean. I mean all that's really different is her lip color, so let's go ahead with the red lips. I just wiped off the nude lips and I'm going in with my Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine. With red lips probably wouldn't wear this shirt so let me go ahead and change so it suits it.

Before I get into the red lips, I just thought about it right now, I want to put on some fake lashes because it makes the look more dramatic. I'm just going to reuse these lashes that I used before. I believe that they're NYX lashes. I'm going to put these on really quickly and then I'll be right back.

Let's go on to the lips now. I got my lashes on; you don't have to do this but to match dramatic lips I guess I wanted to add lashes on. Let's go on to the lips. I'm only going to use two products. Now I'm going to go in with Cabaret Coastal Scents lip liner, which is a red. You guys corrected me because I said Cabaret last time.

I'm just going to use this to line my lips. I'm going to smack my lips together. What you want to not do is don't let any red get right here, like on the insides of your lips. I'm going to go in with my NYX lip gloss, this is in Plush Red, and I'm going to put this just on the end, kind of following where I put that lip liner first. What I'm doing is I'm just like, I'm putting it on but I'm licking my lips and that'll take some of the red off because like the inside of her lips has no red. It feels. It's kind of tricky. There's more red lip gloss or there's more red I mean on the top lip and then the bottom lip is kind of like half and half. A trick that you could do is just put lip gloss just on the line as if you're using lip liner to line your lips and then keep on licking your lip.

Eyes are pretty much the same, her face is the same, nice and bronze but the only difference is her wardrobe and her lips I see. Here are the red lips, the unique way to wear red lips, the Aaliyah way to wear red lips. I hope you all enjoyed and thank you so much for watching.
