How to Make Your Own Heat Protector Spray At Home

1 Peel, de-seed and cut an avocado in half. Then, cut off one-third of one-half of your avocado, and use a fork to mash it in a bowl.

2 Heat 1/2 cup of water to a simmer on the stove, and add the mashed avocado. Continue to simmer the liquid, and stir in the avocado until it is well dissolved. You should have a thin liquid at the end. Put the mixture through a strainer to remove any large lumps.

3 Fold 1 ounce of shea butter into the warm avocado liquid, and stir until well mixed. Let the mixture cool, and pour the liquid into a clean, plastic spray bottle. Add a few drops of lemon juice or concentrate to preserve the spray. Spray on to your hair before blow drying and styling. Store the protectant in your refrigerator for up to seven days.
